  1. 1. Phase dependent heat transport in superconducting junctions with scattering theory

    Author : Fatemeh Hajiloo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; heat transport; heat conductance; scattering theory; superconducting hybrid devices; conductance fluctuations; phase dependent heat currents;

    Abstract : The operation of nanoscale devices at low temperatures is highly sensitive to heating effects. This motivates current research on controlling heat currents in these devices. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mechanical and Electrical Properties of Mesoscopic Wires

    Author : Sara Blom; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Rabi oscillations; conductance quantization; free electron model; mesoscopic; microwave; channel; force fluctuations; adiabatic; nanowire;

    Abstract : The mechanical and electrical properties of mesoscopic wires have been studied theoretically using a free electron model. When a mesoscopic wire is elongated the conductance decreases in steps. Each step is accompanied by an abrupt change in the force. READ MORE

  3. 3. Cerebrospinal fluid infusion methods : development and validation on patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus

    Author : Nina Andersson; Anders Eklund; Karin Wårdell; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Infusion test; idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus; outflow conductance; outflow resistance; intracranial pressure; cerebrospinal fluid dynamics; medical informatics; medicinsk informatik;

    Abstract : Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) infusion tests can be used to estimate the dynamic properties of the CSF system. Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (INPH) is a syndrome signified by a disturbance to the CSF system, where the cause is unknown and the diagnosis is difficult to determine. READ MORE

  4. 4. Computational Studies of Electron Transport in Nanoscale Devices

    Author : Henrik Löfås; Rajeev Ahuja; Jan Isberg; Fabian Pauly; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Density functional theory; Molecular electronics; Organosilicon chemistry; Diamond; Molecular switches; Nanoelectrode bridge platform; Molecular cords; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics;

    Abstract : In this thesis, a combination of density functional theory (DFT) based calculations and nonequilibrium Green’s functions are employed to investigate electron transport in molecular switches, molecular cords and nanoscale devices.  Molecular electronic devices have been proposed as an approach to complement today’s silicon based electronic devices. 5. 5. Modelling of Quantum Transport in Nanostructures

    Author : Dan Csontos; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ballistic transport; quantum wire; quantum dot; resonant tunnelling; three-terminal; disorder; Physics; Fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2002:Csontos; scattering matrix; quantum transport;

    Abstract : In this thesis, theoretical studies of the transport properties of three nanoscale systems: one-dimensional (1D) quantum wires (QWRs), zero-dimensional (0D), laterally confined, double-barrier resonant tunnelling structures (DBRTSs) and three-terminal ballistic junctions (TBJs), have been performed. In the first part of the thesis, an overview of the realization and properties of such systems is given along with a description of modelling tools used in the calculations. READ MORE
