1. Characterisation of Atrial Electrophysiology with respect to Atrial Fibrillation - A Non-Invasive Approach
Abstract : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common form of cardiac arrhythmia encountered in clinical practice, accounting. Recent findings highlight the need for better characterisation of the arrhythmia in each patient, in order to improve patient treatment. READ MORE

2. Anionic Graft Copolymers with Poly(ethylene oxide) Side-Chains; Synthesis, Solution Properties and Ion Conduction
Abstract : The research underlaying this thesis involves synthesis and characterization of well-defined anionic graft copolymers carrying poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) side-chains. Two different grafting techniques were used. Backbone polymers were prepared through radical terpolymerization of maleic anhydride, styrene and an additional comonomer. READ MORE

3. Cation Conduction and Coordination in Carbonyl-Containing Compounds : Li+ Transport in Alternative Polymer Electrolyte Host Materials
Abstract : The field of solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) used to create safer lithium-ion batteries has been dominated by polyethylene oxide (PEO) since the discovery of its ion-conducting properties in the 1970s. In this thesis, as an alternative, the ion coordination and conduction properties of SPEs based on polyketones, polyesters and polycarbonates are investigated. READ MORE

4. Risk factors for autoimmune-mediated congenital heart block
Abstract : Placental transfer of maternal Ro/SSA and La/SSB autoantibodies during pregnancy is associated with conduction disturbances and inflammation in the developing fetal heart, termed autoimmune-mediated congenital heart block (CHB). Maternal Ro/SSA and La/SSB autoantibodies are the main risk factors associated with the fetal cardiac manifestations to date, however, the low recurrence rate despite persisting autoantibodies in subsequent pregnancies indicates that additional factors determine fetal susceptibility. 5. Cardio-pulmonary function in familial amyloidosis with polyneuropathy : a clinical study of cases from northern Sweden
Abstract : Familial amyloidosis with polyneuropathy (FAP) was first reported from Portugal in 1952, but since then this syndrome has been recognized in many countries including Sweden. In this investigation cardiac and pulmonary functions in the Swedish variety of FAP were studied. READ MORE
