  1. 26. The Bone Conduction Implant (BCI) - Preclinical Studies, Technical Design and a Clinical Evaluation

    Author : Hamidreza Taghavi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bone conduction implant; Amplitude modulation; Bone anchored hearing aid; Radio frequency power amplifier and inductive link; Long-term implantation.; Low-power systems; Implanted transducer;

    Abstract : The Bone Conduction Implant (BCI) system has been developed as an alternative to the percutaneous bone anchored hearing aid (BAHA) with the advantage that the skin is kept intact. The transducer is permanently implanted and attached to the skull via a flat surface contact to the temporal bone. READ MORE

  2. 27. Glassy Materials: Fundamental Aspects and Ionic Conduction

    Author : Aleksandar Matic; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Materials of very different categories, ranging from polymers to metals, can form glasses. The disordered structure of glassy materials often provide unique properties to the system and glasses are commonly used in various technological applications. READ MORE

  3. 28. A Finite Element Model of the Human Head for Simulation of Bone-conducted Sound

    Author : You Chang; Stefan Stenfelt; Namkeun Kim; Frank Böhnke; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; bone conduction; finite element model,bone-conduction devices;

    Abstract : Bone conduction is usually understood as the hearing sensation based on the vibrations of the skull bone and surrounding tissues. The fact that vibration of the skull bones can result in a sound percept has been known for a long time. However, it is difficult to give a general definition of BC sound. READ MORE

  4. 29. ATRIOVENTRICULAR CONDUCTION in Patients with Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardias

    Author : Shaowen Liu; Kardiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns retrospective and prospective studies of the atrioventricular (AV) conduction properties in patients with cardiac arrhythmias. The objectives of the retrospective studies were to further delineate the sex distribution in patients with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW) and AV nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) and to determine the underlying mechanisms of the differences in sex distribution, to investigate the relationship between the conduction properties of normal and accessory AV pathway, and to evaluate their conduction properties with respect to accessory pathway location. 5. 30. Hearing by Bone Conduction. Physical and Physiological Aspects

    Author : Stefan Stenfelt; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Bone conduction as a phenomenon, physically and physiologically, is of vital importance in both the diagnosis of a hearing impairment and the development of bone conduction hearing aids. Understanding hearing by bone conduction is difficult, involving sound transmission by wave motion in a complex geometrical structure of layered bone covered with soft tissue and cartilage, finally received by the highly delicate cochlea.
