  1. 1. A Configurable Component Framework Supporting Platform-Based Product Development

    Author : Anders Claesson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; modular products; system structure; axiomatic design; configurable components; product variants; function-means modeling; configuration; product model; platform-based products; design bandwidth; modularization;

    Abstract : Product development in the automotive industry is a challenging task for many reasons. There is an ongoing globalization and a constant evolution in the relationships between the OEMs and their suppliers driving an almost constant stream of changes and new challenges to well-established organizations and companies. 2. 2. Platform-Based Design - Design Rationale Aspects within the Configurable Component Concept

    Author : Stellan Gedell; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; design rationale; derivate designs; configurable components; set-based design; product model; re-use; platform-based design; function-means tree;

    Abstract : Competition, emanating from globalization and the continuing evolution in supplier chains, especially within the automotive industry, creates pressure on every phase of a design´s lifecycle to be more efficient. Requirements, which at least are perceived as conflicting, on one hand a low product price achieved by high volumes and economy of scale, and on the other hand the customers´ whish of individualized products, push for new approaches. 4. 4. Towards Aspectual Component-Based Real-Time System Development

    Author : Aleksandra Tešanović; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aspect-oriented software development; component-based software development; real-time systems; embedded systems; database systems; aspects; components; worst-case execution time; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Increasing complexity of real-time systems and demands for enabling their configurability and tailorability are strong motivations for applying new software engineering principles such as aspect-oriented and component-based software development. The integration of these two techniques into real-time systems development would enable: (i) efficient system configuration from the components in the component library based on the system requirements, (ii) easy tailoring of components and/or a system for a specific application by changing the behavior (code) of the component by aspect weaving, and (iii) enhanced flexibility of the real-time and embedded software through the notion of system configurability and component tailorability. 5. 5. On the Design of Functionally Integrated Aero-engine Structures: Modeling and Evaluation Methods for Architecture and Complexity

    Author : Visakha Raja; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Product Architecture; Aero-engine Structures; Configurable Components; Load Paths; Design Product Complexity; Functionally Integrated Product Architecture; Product Development; Structural Complexity; Function–Means Modeling;

    Abstract : The drive for airplanes with radically reduced fuel consumption and emissions motivates engine manufacturers to explore innovative engine designs. The novelty of such engines results in changed operating conditions, such as newly introduced constraints, increased loads or rearranged interfaces. READ MORE
