1. Conformational Dynamics of Carbohydrates Studied by NMR Spectroscopy and Molecular Simulations
Abstract : Carbohydrates play important roles in biological processes. Their function is closely related to their conformation. In this thesis, conformational studies of carbohydrates by NMR spectroscopy and molecular dynamics computer simulations are described. READ MORE

2. Tales from the Sweet Side of Life : Structure and dynamics of carbohydrate-based systems
Abstract : The field of glycomics has experienced significant developments in the last few decades, revealing a profound and elaborate language behind the intrinsic complexity of the glycans structures. This ‘sugar code’ is at the basis of intercellular interaction and recognition. For this language to be understood, its chemical basis must be unveiled. READ MORE

3. Concentrated DNA-amphiphiles Structure, Hydration, and Dynamics
Abstract : The structure, hydration, and dynamics of concentrated DNA-amphiphile complexes were investigated by small-angle X-ray diffraction, sorption calorimetry, and nuclear magnetic resonance. A concentrated, electroneutral, DNA-amphiphile complex can be formed by mixing charge-stoichiometric solutions. READ MORE

4. Single molecule dynamics
Abstract : Properties found in an ensemble of molecules may not be understood if it is not possible to study each molecule one by one. This thesis is concerned with the study of the dynamic properties of individual complex biological molecules as observed by confocal single-molecule fluorescence spectroscopy. READ MORE

5. Computational Study of Calmodulin’s Ca2+-dependent Conformational Ensembles
Abstract : Ca2+ and calmodulin play important roles in many physiologically crucial pathways. The conformational landscape of calmodulin is intriguing. Conformational changes allow for binding target-proteins, while binding Ca2+ yields population shifts within the landscape. Thus, target-proteins become Ca2+-sensitive upon calmodulin binding.
