  2. 2. Autoantibodies in congenital heart block

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Medicine

    Author : Robert Klauninger; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2009]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

NLE is associated with several clinical manifestations including skin rash, cytopenia and congenital heart block (CHB). CHB is the most severe manifestation which can develop into a lethal atrioventricular (AV) block. READ MORE

    Abstract : The presence of B cells producing autoantibodies is a common feature of many autoimmune conditions. The pathogenic role of the autoantibodies is often unclear, but they often serve as diagnostic markers and may be used as prognostic tools in some diseases. READ MORE

  4. 4. Risk factors for autoimmune-mediated congenital heart block

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Medicine, Solna

    Author : Sabrina Meisgen; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2017]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Placental transfer of maternal Ro/SSA and La/SSB autoantibodies during pregnancy is associated with conduction disturbances and inflammation in the developing fetal heart, termed autoimmune-mediated congenital heart block (CHB). Maternal Ro/SSA and La/SSB autoantibodies are the main risk factors associated with the fetal cardiac manifestations to date, however, the low recurrence rate despite persisting autoantibodies in subsequent pregnancies indicates that additional factors determine fetal susceptibility. 5. 5. Ro52 antibodies and susceptibility genes in congenital heart block

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Medicine

    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Congenital heart block (CHB) develops in fetuses of Ro/SSA and La/SSB positive women. During pregnancy, the autoantibodies cross the placenta and affect the fetus in which a potentially lethal atrioventricular (AV) block may develop. READ MORE
