  1. 1. Conjugation in Organic Group 14 Element Compounds Design, Synthesis and Experimental Evaluation

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Rikard Emanuelsson; Uppsala universitet.; [2014]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; conjugation; conductance; electronic structure; Group 14 elements; hyperconjugation; molecular electronics; organosilicon chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the chemical concept of conjugation, i.e., electron delocalization, and the effect it has on electronic and optical properties of molecules. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mitigation of nonlinear fiber distortion using phase conjugation

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Henrik Eliasson; [2016]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fiber-optic communication; nonlinear optics; phase conjugation; phase-sensitive amplifiers;

    Abstract : This thesis is devoted to the study of fiber-optic communication systems that mitigate nonlinear distortion due to the Kerr effect by transmitting a phase-conjugated copy alongside the signal followed by coherent superposition. This kind of communication systems are referred to as phase-conjugated twin waves systems when the phase-conjugated copy is transmitted on the orthogonal polarization. READ MORE

  3. 3. Hyperconjugation in Group 14 Organic Compounds Design and Property Investigations

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Aleksandra Denisova; Uppsala universitet.; [2017]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 1; 4-disilacyclohexa-2; 5-diene; aromaticity; computational chemistry; conjugation; cross-hyperconjugation; hyperconjugation; group 14 elements; organosilicon chemistry; silole;

    Abstract : Nowadays π-conjugated molecules are widely used as materials for devices in organic and molecular electronics. This is due to the ability of such molecules to conduct electricity. However, π-conjugation leads to molecular rigidness and associated lower solubility, which limits possible applications. READ MORE

  4. 4. Peptide Conjugates as Useful Molecular Tools

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Adam T. Ślósarczyk; Uppsala universitet.; [2011]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; peptide conjugates; designed peptides; polypeptides; molecular recognition; linker; linking technology; bioconjugation; conjugation; conjugates; Kemi; Chemistry; Chemistry with specialization in Bioorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot bioorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : The conjugation of a small organic molecule to synthetic polypeptides from a designed set has been shown to give rise to binders with high affinity and selectivity for the phosphorylated model proteins α-casein and β-casein but not for ovoalbumin. The small organic molecule that was used for this purpose is comprised of two di-(2-picolyl)amine groups assembled on a dimethylphenyl scaffold, and is capable of complexing two Zn2+ ions to form chelates that bind the phosphate ion. 5. 5. Heavy-Core Staffanes A Computational Study of Their Fundamental Properties of Interest for Molecular Electronics

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Niclas Sandström; Uppsala universitet.; [2007]
    Keywords : Organic chemistry; conjugation; polarizability; Group 14 elements; cage compounds; electronic excitations; quantum chemistry; molecular electronics; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The basic building blocks in molecular electronics often correspond to conjugated molecules. A compound class consisting of rigid rod-like staffane molecules with the heavier Group 14 elements Si, Ge, Sn and Pb at their bridgehead positions has now been investigated. READ MORE
