  1. 11. Validation of antibodies for tissue based immunoassays

    Author : Sandra Andersson; Anna Asplund; Fredrik Pontén; Kenneth Wester; Mike Taussig; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Antibody validation; Conjugation; Estrogen receptor-beta; IHC; ISH; Lymphohematopoietic tissues; Proteomic; RNAseq; TMA; Transcriptomic; Patologi; Pathology;

    Abstract : In situ protein detection in human tissues using antibodies reveals the cellular protein localization, and affinity-based proteomic studies can help to discover proteins involved in the development of diseases. However, antibodies often suffer from cross-reactivity, and the lack of positive and negative tissue controls for uncharacterized proteins complicates the mapping of the proteome. READ MORE

  2. 12. Exploring molecular interactions between polypeptide conjugates and protein targets : Manipulating affinity by chemical modifications

    Author : Aleksandra Balliu; Lars Baltzer; Oliver Seitz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polypeptide conjugates; protein targets; molecular recognition; affinity enhancement; conjugation;

    Abstract : In this thesis molecular interactions between polypeptide conjugates and protein targets were investigated. Polypeptides were derivatized with small organic molecules, peptides and oligonucleotides. New strategies were developed with the aim to increase affinities for proteins of biological interest. 3. 13. The role of wastewater in surveillance and emergence of antibiotic resistant bacteria

    Author : Marion Hutinel; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Microbiology; Bacteriology; Antibiotic resistance; Surveillance; Horizontal gene transfer; HGT; Conjugation; Plasmids; Epidemiology; CPE; E. coli; Carbapenamase; Linezolid; Colistin; Selection; sul4; OXA-48; gar; NDM; mcr; wastewater; sewage; sewer;

    Abstract : As antibiotic resistance spreads among bacterial pathogens, it reduces treatment options and increases treatment failures of infectious diseases. Strategies employed to reduce this spread or adapt to its consequences need to be based on reliable surveillance data which is lacking in many countries, often due to limited resources. READ MORE

  4. 14. On the linearization of non-Archimedean holomorphic functions near an indifferent fixed point

    Author : Karl-Olof Lindahl; Andrei Khrennikov; Franco Vivaldi; Växjö universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dynamical system; linearization; conjugation; non-Archimedean field; Algebra; geometry and mathematical analysis; Algebra; geometri och analys; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : We consider the problem of local linearization of power series defined over complete valued fields. The complex field case has been studied since the end of the nineteenth century, and renders a delicate number theoretical problem of small divisors related to diophantine approximation. READ MORE

    Abstract : Over the last decade environmental agencies worldwide have escalated their work to phase out animal testing for the purposes of chemical regulation. Meanwhile the number of commercially available chemicals and the requirements for hazard assessments have both increased, creating a large need for substitution of traditional in vivo assays with in vitro tests.
