  1. 1. A Network Model Applied to Cellulose Fibre Materials

    Author : Susanne Heyden; Byggnadsmekanik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Network mechanics; Fibre network; Cellulose fibres; Fracture; Stiffness; Computer simulation;

    Abstract : A network mechanics model for analysis of materials made of dry-shaped cellulose fibres is proposed. In terms of the model, the network is composed of fibres of arbitrary distribution in length, curvature, cross-section. stiffness and strength. The fibres are arranged in a random structure according to an arbitrary orientation distribution. READ MORE

  2. 2. Moisture-induced distortion in timber structures - examples based on partition walls

    Author : Magnus Bäckström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gypsum wallboard; spiral grain angle; restraint; Norway spruce; Connection; twist; spring;

    Abstract : The shape of timber changes due to variations in moisture content (MC). In Scandinavia, producers normally dry timber to an MC of 18%. However, after the studs are built into the wall structure, for example, they may become distorted as a result of further drying in the structure. The final MC in a heated building in Scandinavia is about 8%. READ MORE

  3. 3. Experimental characterization and numerical modeling of compression perpendicular to the grain in wood and cross-laminated timber

    Author : Shaheda T. Akter; Thomas K. Bader; Erik Serrano; Jan Oscarsson; Reinhard Brandner; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; rolling shear; biaxial testing; stress combination; RT-plane; moisture influence; rolling shear creep; digital image correlation; strain field; CLT connection; rotational stiffness; rullskjuvning; biaxiell undersökning; spänningskombination; RT-plan; fuktpåverkan; krypning vid rullskjuving; digital bildkorrelation; töjningsfält; KLTanslutning; rotationsstyvhet; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Abstract : Compression perpendicular to the grain (CPG) of wood is a typical loading situation in timber structures. It has been an extensively studied research topic for decades, due to the highly ductile behavior of wood under such loading, the large variations in mechanical properties, and the relevance of these properties in structural design. 4. 4. Aspects of oral implant technology and osseointegration

    Author : Rainde Naiara Rezende de Jesus; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; biomaterials; oral implants; surface topography; surface roughness; surface energy; surface wettability; hydrophilicity; macrogeometry; implant body; thread design; surgical protocol; oversized drilling; osseointegration; bone-to-implant contact; bone density; primary implant stability; insertion torque; removal torque; removal energy; connection stiffness; osteoclasts; RAW264.7 cells; gene expression;

    Abstract : Behandling med käkbensförankrade tandimplantat är en vanlig metod för att ersätta förlorade tänder hos helt och partiellt tandlösa patienter. Trots att implantatbehandling uppvisar en långsiktigt hög lyckande- och överlevnadsfrekvens (90–95% efter 10 år) så förekommer implantatförluster och marginal benförlust kring implantaten under det första året efter insättning och/eller belastning, vilket kan försämra det estetiska resultatet. 5. 5. The shear plate dowel joint : Research on a novel connection for heavy timber structures

    Author : Gustaf Larsson; Byggnadsmekanik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; timber connection; rubber foil; resilient bond line; single dowel; heavy timber structures;

    Abstract : An increased use of wood can reduce the environmental footprint of the building sector. In order to improve the competitiveness of heavy timber structures, the thesis presents a novel type of timber connection with a high degree of prefabrication. READ MORE
