  1. 21. The type-I acyl-CoA thioesterase/acyltransferase gene family : linking structure to function

    Author : James O'Byrne; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Type-I acyl-CoA thioesterase acyltransferase gene family; structure function relationship; nueleophilic elbow; esterase transferase activity;

    Abstract : Acyl-CoA thioesterases hydrolyse acyl-CoAs to non-esterified fatty acids and coenzyme A (CoASH), thereby regulating intracellular levels of these compounds. We have recently identified and initiated characterisation of a novel, unique gene family of acyl-CoA thioesterases/acyltransferases, called the Type-I acyl-CoA thioesterase/acyltransferase gene family. 2. 22. Coronary computed tomography in patients with myocardial infarction and non-obstructed coronary arteries

    Author : Elin Bacsovics Brolin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the number one cause of death worldwide. In Sweden, almost 30 000 people suffer an acute myocardial infarction (AMI) each year and, despite the greatly improved survival after AMI, CVD remains the leading cause of death among women and men. READ MORE

  3. 23. Improving Community Detection Methods for Network Data Analysis

    Author : Farnaz Moradi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spam; Overlapping Communities; Networks; Misbehavior Detection; Seed Selection; Community Detection Algorithms; Medical Query Logs;

    Abstract : Empirical analysis of network data has been widely conducted for understanding and predicting the structure and function of real systems and identifying interesting patterns and anomalies. One of the most widely studied structural properties of networks is their community structure. READ MORE

  4. 24. On the prognostic value of Heparin-binding protein in Sepsis

    Author : Jonas Tverring; Infektionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Sepsis; Biomarker; Heparin-binding protein HBP ; Diagnostic accuracy; added value;

    Abstract : Sepsis causes major morbidity and mortality worldwide. There is wide consensus that biomarkers have an important role in sepsis research and patient care. Heparin-binding protein (HBP) is a neutrophil-derived, proinflammatory and vascular permeability-inducing protein and a promising novel sepsis biomarker. READ MORE

  5. 25. The study of sensory cilia development in caenorhabditis elegans

    Author : Evgeni Efimenko; Peter Swoboda; Philippe Bastin; Södertörns högskola; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Cilia and flagella are widespread eukaryotic subcellular components that are conserved from green algae to mammals. In different organisms they function in cell motility, movement of extracellular fluids and sensory reception. READ MORE
