  1. 1. Direct Calculation of Wave-Induced Loads and Fatigue Damage of Container Vessels

    Author : Zhiyuan Li; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fatigue; stress concentration factor; direct calculation; Container ship; fatigue routing; wave-induced torsion.; extreme loading; nonlinear wave loads;

    Abstract : Container ships and their rules for fatigue design are in several ways differentcompared with other types of commercial ships such as tankers and bulk carriers. Forexample, most modern container ships have a pronounced bow flare and an overhangstern. READ MORE

  2. 2. Kinematics of the heart : strain and strain-rate using time-resolved three-dimensional phase contrast MRI

    Author : Pernilla Selskog; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : During the cardiac cycle, the myocardium (heart muscle) undergoes large elastic deformations as a consequence of the active muscle contraction along the muscle :fibers and their relaxation, respectively. A four-dimensional (4D) description (three spatial dimensions + time) of the kinematics of the myocardium would bring increased understanding of the mechanical properties of the heart and may be of interest in assessing regional myocardial function. 3. 3. Wood-fibre composites : Stress transfer and hygroexpansion

    Author : Karin M. Almgren; Kristofer Gamstedt; Véronique Michaud; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Abstract : Wood fibres is a type of natural fibres suitable for composite applications. The abundance of wood in Swedish forests makes wood-fibre composites a new and interesting application for the Swedish pulp and paper industry. READ MORE

  4. 4. Individualizing assembly processes for geometric quality improvement

    Author : Abolfazl Rezaei Aderiani; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Selective Assembly; Individualization of production; Locator Adjustments; sheet metal assembly processes; Variation Simulations; Geometry Assurance;

    Abstract : Dimensional deviations are a consequence of the mass production of parts. These deviations can be controlled by tightening production tolerances. However, this solution is not always desired because it usually increases production costs. READ MORE

  5. 5. Towards detached communication for robot cooperation

    Author : Nicklas Bergfeldt; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : This licentiate thesis deals with communication among cooperating mobile robots. Up until recently, most robotics research has focused on developing single robots that should accomplish a certain task. READ MORE
