1. Theoretical simulations of environment-sensitive dynamical systems for advanced reservoir computing applications
Abstract : The possibility of building intelligent sensing substrates that both collect information about an environment and analyze it in real-time has been investigated theoretically. In a typical setup, a dynamical system is assumed to interact with the environment over time. The system operates as a reservoir computer acting as a reservoir of states. READ MORE

2. On the Low Frequency Noise in Ion Sensing
Abstract : Ion sensing represents a grand research challenge. It finds a vast variety of applications in, e.g., gas sensing for domestic gases and ion detection in electrolytes for chemical-biological-medical monitoring. READ MORE

3. Computational Material Design : Diluted Magnetic Semiconductors for Spintronics
Abstract : The present thesis deals with the application of ab-initio electronic structure calculations based on density functional theory for material design. The correlation between magnetic properties and electronic structures has been investigated in detail for diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMS), which have promising application for spintronics devices. 4. Robust preconditioning methods for algebraic problems, arising in multi-phase flow models
Abstract : The aim of the project is to construct, analyse and implement fast and reliable numerical solution methods to simulate multi-phase flow, modeled by a coupled system consisting of the time-dependent Cahn-Hilliard and incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with variable viscosity and variable density. This thesis mainly discusses the efficient solution methods for the latter equations aiming at constructing preconditioners, which are numerically and computationally efficient, and robust with respect to various problem, discretization and method parameters. 5. Photo-induced Structural Dynamics in Transition Metal Dichalcogenides
Abstract : Ultrafast electron microscope (UEM), a combination of transmission electron microscopy and laser-based pump-probe techniques, facilitates ultrafast imaging, diffraction, and electron-spectroscopy with high spatial resolution. The unique advantages of UEM enable local ultrafast dynamic studies in materials, nano-system, and biology. READ MORE
