  1. 16. On Brownfield Layout Planning

    Author : Daniel Nåfors; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; factory layout planning; Production systems; digitalisation; Industry 4.0; decision support; manufacturing systems;

    Abstract : As manufacturing companies strive to increase productivity and decrease waste, to stay competitive in an increasingly global and digitalised context, their production system must improve. Improvements to production systems can be achieved in many ways, including increased levels of automation, improved product and process flows and improved scheduling. READ MORE

  2. 17. Industrial bridge construction with cast in place concrete : new production methods and lean construction philosophies

    Author : Peter Simonsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : The construction industry is associated with high costs, low productivity, a lack of quality and low profit margins. Too often the actual cost for a project exceeds the expected cost. READ MORE

  3. 18. Subsurface dams in water resource management : methods for assessment and location

    Author : Imran Ali Jamali; Bo Olofsson; Stephen Foster; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Subsurface dams; Groundwater; GIS; Regolith thickness; Groundwater; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Abstract : Natural groundwater storage can be improved by constructing a subsurface barrier that is a subsurface dam, in order to capture the subsurface flows and raise the groundwater levels (GWLs) in the sediment layers. Subsurface dams are preferable to surface dams because of lower evaporation, higher functionality, lower cost of construction, lessened risk for contamination and the possibility of utilizing land over the dam. 4. 19. Complexity and learning in timber frame housing : the case of a solid wood pilot project

    Author : Ylva Sardén; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träbyggnad; Timber Structures;

    Abstract : An extensive governmental evaluation of the Swedish construction industry shows that it is possible to reduce production costs in housing construction through industrialisation, customer orientation, and a more efficient construction process. Today large construction companies are more and more focused on dealing with systems and coordinating large projects and the real production is getting less important. READ MORE

  5. 20. Smart pavement maintenance and infrastructure operation through digital twins : Case study for Norvik Port, Sweden

    Author : Julian Dario Rodriguez; Nicole Kringos; Romain Balieu; Plati Christina; KTH; []
