16. Risk Estimation of Groundwater Drawdown in Subsidence Sensitive Areas
Abstract : Groundwater drawdown induced ground subsidence is a severe problem in many regions around the world. Leakage of groundwater into a sub-surface construction, resulting in drawdown and subsequent subsidence, can lead to immense damage costs on buildings and installations in urban areas. READ MORE

17. Estimations of Hydrogeological Properties in Vulnerability and Risk Assessments
Abstract : The main objective of this thesis was to evaluate and develop approaches for hydrogeological vulnerability and risk assessments, starting with scant data and updating the results as new information becomes available. This work was performed within three separate projects between 1989 and 1995. READ MORE

18. Cycle paths’ degradation processes and surface condition assessment
Abstract : A shift in modal share from car driving to cycling has many benefits, both from individual- and societal perspectives, e.g., better health from an increase in physical activity, lower levels of pollution and congestion. However, there are also some potential problems with such a shift. READ MORE

19. Holistic approach in engineering design - controlling risks from accidental hazards in bridge design
Abstract : Engineering design, in concise terms, is what engineers do using what they know. It is the underlying decision making activity that determines what is to be built and how it should be built. An ever present requirement in engineering design is that the structure should be safe. READ MORE

20. Subsurface dams in water resource management : methods for assessment and location
Abstract : Natural groundwater storage can be improved by constructing a subsurface barrier that is a subsurface dam, in order to capture the subsurface flows and raise the groundwater levels (GWLs) in the sediment layers. Subsurface dams are preferable to surface dams because of lower evaporation, higher functionality, lower cost of construction, lessened risk for contamination and the possibility of utilizing land over the dam.
