  1. 1. On the influence of surface roughness on rolling contact forces

    Author : Oskar Lundberg; Ines Lopez Arteaga; Leif Kari; Matthias Kröger; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rolling contact; Surface roughness; Contact forces; Contact modelling; Friction; Road; Asphalt; Substrate; Test-rig; Sliding; Stick–slip; Tyre; Rubber; Tread-block; Wheel–rail interaction; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : Road vehicle tyres, railway wheels and ball bearings all generate rolling contact forces which are transferred within a finite area of contact between the rolling element and the substrate. Either it is visible or not for the human eye, a certain degree of roughness is always present on the contacting surfaces and it influences the generation of both vertical and lateral contactforces. 2. 2. Cam Roller Contact

    Author : Frederic Cabanettes; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; classification of surfaces; wear test; roller; rough contact model; surface topography; injection cam; manufacturing evaluation;

    Abstract : The automotive industry and the design of engines are strongly ruled by performance andlegislation demands. First order aspects defining the main functions of a component are wellknown and new challenges appear at a lower scale. READ MORE

  4. 4. On Rolling Variators, A study of power transmitting rolling variators when changing speed ratio

    Author : Göran Brännare; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; friction drives; traction drives; variators; traction; CVT; speed ratio change; rolling traction trnasmissions; continously variable transmissions; rolling contact drives; transmission ratio change;

    Abstract : The introduction of the concept Rolling Variators is proposed for rolling contact continuously variable transmission.A theoretical study of rolling variators when changing the speed ratio during power transmission is presented. READ MORE

  5. 5. Analyses of Spur and Helical Gears

    Author : Anette Andersson; Maskinelement; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vacuum technology; vibration and acoustic engineering; Maskinteknik; hydraulik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik; hydraulics; Teknik; Mechanical engineering; Technological sciences; misalignment; contact ratio; load distribution; transmission error; tooth contact analysis;

    Abstract : The thesis contains three papers that comprise studies of the dynamic behaviour of involute spur and helical gears, and one paper that describes a method to determine the influence of misalignment on the static helical gear tooth stress. In the first study, the influence of the contact ratio on the dynamic response of a spur gear was examined. READ MORE
