  1. 1. The Otter (Lutra lutra) in Sweden Contaminants and Health

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Anna Roos; Uppsala universitet.; [2013]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Otter Lutra lutra ; PCB; DDT; PFAAs; reproduction; bone; time trends; Biologi med inriktning mot ekotoxikologi; Biology with specialization in Environmental Toxicology;

    Abstract : In the 1950s the otter started to decline in numbers and distribution in Sweden and other parts of Europe. In 1972 a game law came into force, listing otter as a species that if found dead should be reported and sent to the authorities. The numbers of dead otters reported from different areas indicate population status and distribution. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mixture Effects of Environmental Contaminants

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Erik Lampa; Uppsala universitet.; [2015]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mixtures; Environmental Contaminants; Atherosclerosis; Metabolic Syndrome; Boosting; Epidemiology;

    Abstract : Chemical exposure in humans rarely consists of a single chemical. The everyday exposure is characterized by thousands of chemicals mainly present at low levels. Despite that fact, risk assessment of chemicals is carried out on a chemical-by-chemical basis although there is a consensus that this view is too simplistic. READ MORE

  3. 3. On Gas Contaminants, and Bipolar Plates in Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Kungliga Tekniska högskolan

    Author : Yasna Acevedo Gomez; KTH.; [2019]

    Abstract : The proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell is an electrochemical device that converts chemical energy into electrical energy through two electrocatalytic reactions. The most common catalyst used is platinum on carbon (Pt/C), which has shown the best performance in the fuel cell until now. READ MORE

  4. 4. Targeted and untargeted analysis of organic contaminants from on-site sewage treatment facilities Removal, fate and environmental impact

    University dissertation from Umeå : Umeå universitet

    Author : Kristin Blum; Umeå universitet.; [2018]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; decentralized sewage treatment; wastewater; surface water; environmental fate; bioavailability; removal efficiency; mass fluxes; biochar; environment; GC×GC-MS; LC-IM-MS; mass spectrometry; contaminants; pollutants; prioritization; non-target analysis; screening; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : On-site sewage treatment facilities (OSSFs) are widely used all over the world to treat wastewater when large-scale sewage treatment plants (STPs) are not economically feasible. Although there is great awareness that the release of untreated wastewater into the environment can lead to water-related diseases and eutrophication, little is known about organic contaminants and their removal by OSSFs, environmental load and fate. 5. 5. Remediation of materials with mixed contaminants treatability, technology and final disposal

    University dissertation from Örebro : Örebro universitet

    Author : Kristin Elgh-Dalgren; Örebro universitet.; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioremediation; Microtox®; mixed contaminants; re-cycling; soil remediation; soil washing.; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry Environmental chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi Miljökemi; Enviromental Science; Miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Contaminated soils are a large issue worldwide and much effort has been made to find efficient remediation methods. At many contaminated sites, mixtures of different contaminants with different properties are present, which may lead to additional problems, and thus additional costs, during the remediation process.
