  1. 21. Structural health monitoring of concrete structures using diffuse waves

    Author : Patrik Fröjd; Teknisk geologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; övervakning; ultraljud; betong; diffusa vågor; oförstörande provning; structural health monitoring; ultrasound; concrete; nondestructive testing; Civil engineering; diffuse waves;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis has aimed to investigate and implement techniques for ultrasonic measurements in structural health monitoring applications for civil structures. The focus of the work has been to make these systems practical in real applications, where the large size of the structures, and the changing environments they are exposed to, pose problems for many methods which otherwise fare well in laboratory settings. 2. 22. The Analysis of Duration and Panel Data in Economics

    Author : Wolfgang Hess; Nationalekonomiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Monetary Exchange Rate Model; Homogeneity Testing; Panel Cointegration; Pooling; Duration of Trade; Unemployment Duration; Proportional Hazards; Unobserved Heterogeneity; Hazard Rate; Discrete-Time Duration Model; Threshold Excess Model;

    Abstract : This thesis is divided into two distinct parts. The first part contains three chapters dealing with the analysis of duration data from an econometric perspective and with application to trade durations. READ MORE

  3. 23. Arbitrary Waveform Impedance Spectroscopy for Characterization and Diagnostics of High Voltage Insulation

    Author : Björn Sonerud; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; insulation testing; aging; monitoring; discrete Fourier transforms; Dielectric measurements; dielectric materials;

    Abstract : In high voltage engineering the dielectric response technique is a widely used tool both for characterization of insulation materials and for diagnostics of components such as transformers and cables. Currently available techniques are not capable of measuring on-line which would be advantageous; when characterizing a material and evaluating the effect of different voltage magnitudes, waveforms and temperatures it is desirable to be able to observe the continuous development of the dielectric properties. 4. 24. Experimental Investigation of Three-Dimensional Mechanisms in Low-Pressure Turbine Flutter

    Author : Damian Vogt; Torsten Fransson; Robert Kielb; KTH; []
    Keywords : Life sciences and physical sciences; turbomachinery; flutter; aeroelastic instability; aeroelastic testing; CFD; linearized unsteady numerical method; 3D aerodynamic effects; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : The continuous trend in gas turbine design towards lighter, more powerful and more reliable engines on one side and use of alternative fuels on the other side renders flutter problems as one of the paramount challenges in engine design. Flutter denotes a self-excited and self-sustained aeroelastic instability phenomenon that can lead to material fatigue and eventually damage of structure in a short period of time unless properly damped. 5. 25. Fiber push-out testing of sapphire fiber alumina matrix composites

    Author : David Le Pagne; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Material Mechanics; Materialmekanik;

    Abstract : A current area of international research and development concerns composite materials consisting of oxides reinforced with continuous oxide fibers. These materials have an inherent resistance to oxidation and therefore have potential as structural materials for applications at extremely high temperatures. READ MORE
