  1. 1. Contouring & planning variability in stereotactic radiosurgery How to assess and address the weakest link in stereotactic radiosurgery?

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Physics, Stockholm University

    Author : Helena Sandström; Iuliana Toma-Dasu; David Schlesinger; [2019]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stereotactic radiosurgery; contouring variability; robust treatment planning; medicinsk strålningsfysik; Medical Radiation Physics;

    Abstract : The use of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) employing one or a few fractions of high doses of radiation has continuously increased due to the technical development in dose delivery and morphological and functional imaging. As the target volume in SRS is usually defined without margins, the treatment success critically depends on accurate definition and contouring of the target volume and organs at risk (OARs) which are commonly situated in the proximity of the target making their precise delineation particularly important in order to limit possible normal tissue complications. Abstract : Gas turbines are broadly used in aerospace and marine propulsion and power production etc.Investigation of heat transfer in gas turbines is a long-lasting and still an active subject ofresearch due to its tremendous importance. READ MORE

  3. 3. Assessment of excess skin and outcome of body contouring surgery in post bariatric patients

    University dissertation from Göteborg : University of Gothenburg

    Author : Trude Staalesen; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2014]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Postbariatric patients; Massive weight loss; excess skin; body contouring surgery; health related quality of life; plication of abdominal rectus fascia;

    Abstract : Aim: A negative effect of massive weight loss is the development of excess skin. Excess skin causes both physical and psychological problems for those affected and their families. READ MORE

  4. 4. Contouring variability in radiosurgery - dosimetric and radiobiological implications

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Physics, Stockholm University

    Author : Helena Sandström; Stockholms universitet.; [2015]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; medicinsk strålningsfysik; Medical Radiation Physics;

    Abstract : The use of Stereotactic Radiation Therapy (SRT) employing one large fraction of radiation, as in stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), or few fractions of high doses, has continuously increased due to the technical development and the progress in dose delivery complemented by the positive clinical experience. The success of stereotactic radiation therapy depends on many clinical, dosimetric and radiobiological factors. READ MORE

  5. 5. Aerodynamic Investigations of a High Pressure Turbine Vane with Leading Edge Contouring at Endwall in a Transonic Annular Sector Cascade

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Ranjan Saha; KTH.; [2012]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; high pressure turbine; secondary flow; leading edge contouring; endwall; experimental investigations; losses; flow field; hub cooling flow; högtrycksturbinen sekundärströmning; framkantsmodifiering; ändvägg; experimentell undersökning; förluster; strömningsfält; filmkylning av inre platform;

    Abstract : Efficiency improvement is an important aspect to reduce the use of fossil-based fuel in order to achieve a sustainable future. Gas turbines are mainly fossil-fuel based turbomachines, and, therefore, efficiency improvement is still the subject of many on-going research activities in the gas turbine community. READ MORE
