11. Degradation, Metabolism and Relaxation Properties of Iron Oxide Particles for Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Abstract : Whereas the effect of size and coating material on the pharmacokinetics and biodistribution of iron oxide based contrast agents are well documented, the effect of these parameters on liver metabolism has never been investigated. The primary purpose of this work was to evaluate the effect of iron oxide particle size and coating on the rate of liver clearance and particle degradation using a rat model. READ MORE

12. Bioanalysis using capillary electrophoresis and mass spectrometry : Applied on proteins, protein nanofibrils and polyvinyl alcohol microbubbles
Abstract : The sequencing of the genome of various species, including the human species, have led to increased understanding about how a protein structure is generated, and how specific structures are related to the proteins’ functionality. In paper I and II of this thesis, the folding of proteins in vitro to form hierarchical nanostructures, which in vivo often have a pathological effect, have been studied. READ MORE

13. Non-invasive diagnostic methods of intracranial arteries
Abstract : Aims of this thesis were to compare the agreement of different magnetic resonance angiography(MRA) techniques and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) in follow-up of intracranial aneurysms treated with coils in order to select the best MRA method, to evaluate the impact of increased iodine concentration in contrast medium and decreased tube voltage on arterial attenuation and image quality in computed tomography angiography (CTA) of intracranial arteries, and finally to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of CTA in non-traumatic subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) compared to DSA and to assess the arterial attenuation (HU) as an image quality factor in this aspect. Follow-up DSA and time-of-flight (TOF) MRA at 1. READ MORE

14. Bioanalytical separation using capillary electrophoresis : Applications with microbubbles and proteins
Abstract : In this thesis the possibilities of using capillary electrophoresis as a separation technique for analysis of proteins and microbubbles is presented.A complete analytical process consists of five necessary steps of which one is the actual analysis step. For this step a suitable analytical technique is needed. READ MORE
