  1. 16. Heated air gaps : a possibility to dry out dampness from building constructions

    Author : Tord af Klintberg; Folke Björk; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Water damage; convection; air gap; building; construction; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : The air gap method is a modification of the common way of building indoor walls and floors. The aim of the method is to make a construction, less fragile to water damage, with air gaps where moisture can be removed with a thermally driven air flow, caused by a heating cable. The thesis includes a number of experimental studies of this method. READ MORE

  2. 17. Distribution of Ventilation Air and Heat by Buoyancy Forces inside Buildings : An Experimental Study

    Author : Claes Blomqvist; Mats Sandberg; Per Heiselberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; building ventilation; thermal forces; buoyancy; gravity currents; large openings; heating; air quality; forced convection; free convection; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : The main task of the ventilation system in a building is to maintain the air quality and (together with the heating or cooling system) the thermal climate at an acceptable level within the building. This means that a sufficient amount of ventilation air at the appropriate temperature and quality must be supplied to satisfy thermal comfort and air quality demands and that this air is distributed to the parts of the building where people reside. 3. 18. On the Chemical Composition of Metal-Poor Stars : Impact of Stellar Granulation and Departures from Local Thermodynamic Equilibrium on the Formation of Spectral Lines

    Author : Remo Collet; Bengt Gustafsson; Martin Asplund; Roger Cayrel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Astronomy; late-type stars; stellar abundances; stellar atmospheres; spectral line formation; convection; hydrodynamics; Galactic chemical evolution; Astronomi;

    Abstract : The information about the chemical compositions of stars is encoded in their spectra. Accurate determinations of these compositions are crucial for our understanding of stellar nucleosynthesis and Galactic chemical evolution. READ MORE

  4. 19. Atomic Spectroscopy on Fusion Relevant Ions and Studies of Light Impurities in the JET Tokamak

    Author : Magnus Tunklev; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Active and Passive Charge Exchange; Transport; Diffusion; Convection; Neutral Background Densities; Ion temperatures; Fusion; Isoelectronic sequences; Plasma; Atom- och molekylärfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1999:Tunklev; Ritz formalism; Plume; Atomic and molecular physics;

    Abstract : The spectrum and energy levels C IV and the 3l4l' system of the Mg-like ions in the iron group elements has been investigated. This has led to several hundred identified transitions, many of them previously unknown. READ MORE

  5. 20. Turbulence Measurements in a Natural Convection Boundary Layer and a Swirling Jet

    Author : Abolfazl Shiri; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; swirl; constant current bridge; high Rayleigh number; natural convection; Jet; cold-wire thermometry; vertical cylinder; laser Doppler anemometry; turbulent boundary layers;

    Abstract : Two sets of experimental measurement were carried out on an axisymmetric swirling jet flow and a natural convection boundary layer. In the first experiment, the far field of an incompressible swirling jet, discharged into a quiescent ambient has been studied using laser Doppler anemometry. READ MORE
