  1. 1. DESIREE: Instrumentation Developments and Hot Metal Cluster Decays

    Author : Emma K. Anderson; Henning Schmidt; Henrik Cederquist; Henning Zettergren; Oded Heber; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DESIREE; microchannel plate; clusters; spontaneous decay; small metal cluster anions; silver; copper; gold; carbon dianions; fragmentation; vibrational autodetachment; DESIREE; mikrokanalplattor; kluster; spontana sönderfall; små metallklusteranjoner; silver; koppar; guld; kol di-anjoner; fragmentering; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents instrumentation developments and measurements performed at the Double ElectroStatic Ion Ring ExpEriment, DESIREE, at Stockholm University. DESIREE operates at cryogenic temperatures ~13 K, with very low background pressures of ~10-14mbar, allowing the observation of stored ions to long times of tens of seconds and longer. READ MORE

  2. 2. Free Metal Clusters Studied by Photoelectron Spectroscopy

    Author : Tomas Andersson; Olle Björneholm; Maxim Tchaplyguine; Paolo Piseri; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; clusters; nanoparticles; electronic structure; photoelectron spectroscopy; synchrotron radiation; surface segregation; nanoalloys; size-dependence; metallicity; plasmons; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : Clusters are aggregates of a finite number of atoms or molecules. In the present work, free clusters out of metallic parent materials have been created and studied by synchrotron radiation-based photoelectron spectroscopy. The clusters have been formed and studied in a beam and the electronic structure of the clusters has been investigated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Copper(I) Alkoxides and Aryloxides

    Author : Cesar Lopes; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : Copper(I) alkoxides and aryloxides have been prepared from mesitylcopper(I) and alcohols or phenols. The solid state structures of the alkoxides and aryloxides are .my.2- and/or . READ MORE

  4. 4. The role of particles on initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc : lateral distribution, secondary spreading and CO2-/SO2-influence

    Author : Zhuo Yuan Chen; Christofer Leygraf; Jan-Erik Svensson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmospheric corrosion; copper; zinc; NaCl particles; NH4 2SO4; Materials chemistry; Materialkemi;

    Abstract : The role of sodium chloride (NaCl) particles and ammonium sulfate ((NH4)2SO4) particles on the initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc was investigated under in situ and ex situ conditions using microgravimetry, FTIR spectroscopy, ion chromatography, scanning electron microscopy with x-ray microanalysis and the scanning Kelvin probe. For the first time, in situ infrared spectra were collected on a micron level during particle induced atmospheric corrosion using a recently developed experimental set-up for in situ FTIR microspectroscopy. 5. 5. The Curious Case of Hot Metal Clusters : Spontaneous decay of excited, small silver and copper cluster anions in DESIREE

    Author : Emma Anderson; Henning Schmidt; Daniel Harding; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : Clusters anions are complex systems which, when formed with high internal energies, can decay via fragmentation and/or electron loss and may also cool via photon emission (radiative cooling). By studying the spontaneous decay mechanisms of small metal clusters, we can gain insight into the structure and properties of these systems. READ MORE
