16. Sub-micron Structures in Laser Ablated YBa2Cu3O7-x Thin Films
Abstract : This thesis treats the epitaxial growth of high-Tc superconductors and other perovskite oxides as well as the patterning of these into sub-micron structures for superconducting electronic devices. A computer controlled laser ablation system, based on a KrF excimer laser (248 nm) to induce ablation, was developed to allow complex thin film growth processes. READ MORE

17. Phase formation in multicomponent films based on 3d transition metals
Abstract : The need for materials that enhance life span, performance, and sustainability has propelled research in alloy design from binary alloys to more complex systems such as multicomponent alloys. The CoCrFeMnNi alloy, more commonly known as the Cantor alloy, is one of the most studied systems in bulk as well as thin film. READ MORE

18. Novel Porous Films from Functional and Biocompatible Linear-Dendritic Hybrids
Abstract : In the last decades, the fabrication of ordered nano- and microporous structures has attracted increasing interest due to their specific properties and multiple possible applications in electronics, as templates or in the biological field. The development of such materials has been favored by the introduction of the simple breath-figure templating method in the 1990’s. READ MORE

19. Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering of Rare-Earth and Copper Systems
Abstract : Rare earths and copper systems were studied using X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS). The use of monochromased synchrotron radiation and improved energy resolution for RIXS made possible to obtain valuable information on the electronic structure in 4f, 5f and 3d systems. READ MORE

20. Adsorption of molecular thin films on metal and metal oxide surfaces
Abstract : Metal and metal oxides are widely used in industry, and to optimize their performance their surfaces are commonly functionalized by the formation of thin films. Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) are deposited on metals or metal oxides either from solution or by gas deposition. READ MORE
