  2. 2. X-ray Spectroscopic Studies of Materials for Nuclear Technology

    Author : Johan Vegelius; Sergei Butorin; Frank de Groot; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; XAS; XES; RIXS; amorphous; DOS; spectroscopy; actinides; copper; uranium; plutonium;

    Abstract : X-ray spectroscopic experiments, including X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), X-ray emission spectroscopy (XES) and resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS), were performed in a large energy range (60-9000 eV) on a variety of systems, probing different elements and orbitals. The systems can preferably be divided into three groups: Actinides, copper systems and amorphous materials. READ MORE

  3. 3. Metal Mediated Synthesis. Synthetic and Mechanistic Investigations of Conjugate Addition and Reductive Amination

    Author : Anders Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : The thesis is divided into two separate parts, one treating conjugate addition and the other reductive aminations. The first part of the thesis is concerned with organocopper promoted conjugate addition to .alfa.,. READ MORE

  4. 4. First-Principles Study on Electronic and Optical Properties of Copper-Based Chalcogenide Photovoltaic Materials

    Author : Rongzhen Chen; Clas Persson; Maria G. Ganchenkova; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; density functional theory; electronic structure; dielectric function; absorption coefficient; copper-based chalcogenides; ultra-thin film; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : To accelerate environmentally friendly thin film photovoltaic (PV) technologies, copper-based chalcogenides are attractive as absorber materials. Chalcopyrite copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS ≡ CuIn1–xGaxSe2) is today a commercially important PV material, and it is also in many aspects a very interesting material from a scientific point of view. 5. 5. Potential of Organosolv Lignin Nanoparticles as a Sustainable Flotation Reagent : Towards a Low-Carbon Footprint Mining Industry

    Author : Katerina Hruzova; Ulrika Rova; Saija Luukkanen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Organosolv lignin particles; Nanoparticles; Flotation reagent; Copper recovery; Biokemisk processteknik; Biochemical Process Engineering;

    Abstract : The green transition is driving a steep increase in the demand for minerals, which has put the focus on more responsible and sustainable mining practices as there is a growing pressure on mining operations to minimise their environmental footprint, mitigate risks in neighbouring communities, and decrease the consumption of natural resources. In 2022, mineral froth flotation was used to recover 18 million tonnes of copper from copper ore, accounting for 80% of total copper mine output. READ MORE
