  1. 1. Structure and Dynamics of Core-Excited Species

    Author : Oksana Travnikova; Maria Novella Piancastelli; Svante Svensson; Denis Ceolin; Pascal Lablanqui; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Physics; Synchrotron radiation; X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy XPS ; X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy XAS ; Resonant Auger Spectroscopy RAS ; Auger Electron Spectroscopy AES ; Energy-Selected Auger Electron PhotoIon COincidence ES-AEPICO ; core excitation; core ionization; linear free energy relationships LFER ; molecular-field splitting; substituent effects; nuclear dynamics; isomerization; Cl2; N2O; methane derivatives; allene; acetylacetone; Fysik;

    Abstract : In this thesis we have performed core-electron spectroscopy studies of gas phase molecular systems starting with smaller diatomic, continuing with triatomic and extending our research to more complex polyatomic ones. We can subdivide the results presented here into two categories: the first one focusing on electronic fine structure and effect of the chemical bonds on molecular core-levels and the other one dealing with nuclear dynamics induced by creation of a core hole. 2. 2. Multi-Electron Coincidence Studies of Atoms and Molecules

    Author : Egil Andersson; Raimund Feifel; Jan-Erik Rubensson; Kiyoshi Ueda; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; multi-ionization; electron emission; time-of-flight spectroscopy; coincidence spectroscopy; core-valence ionization; synchrotron radiation; electron correlation; Atomic and molecular physics; Atom- och molekylfysik; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns multi-ionization coincidence measurements of atoms and small molecules using a magnetic bottle time-of-flight (TOF) spectrometer designed for multi-electron coincidence studies. Also, a time-of-flight mass spectrometer has been used together with the TOF electron  spectrometer for electron-ion coincidence measurements. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mixed Beam Dosimetry - From Reactor Core to BNCT Patient

    Author : Per Munck af Rosenschöld; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; BNCT; dosimetry; radiotherapy; mixed beam; quality assurance; in vivo dosimetry; Monte Carlo; ionization chamber; foil activation; MCNP; beam quality correction factor; photon transmission.; Nukleärmedicin; radiobiology; Nuclear medicine; radiobiologi; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik; Radiopharmaceutical technology;

    Abstract : Accurate radiation dosimetry is of paramount importance in order to ensure safe delivery of radiotherapy, and for the possibility of meaningful evaluation of clinical trials, as the radiation absorbed dose is correlated to tissue response. The aim of the studies described in this thesis was to investigate and devise novel approaches to mixed beam dosimetry in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT). READ MORE

  4. 4. Single-photon multiple ionization processes studied by electron coincidence spectroscopy

    Author : Per Linusson; Mats Larsson; Raimund Feifel; Stephen Price; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; photoionization; multiple ionization; autoionization; synchrotron radiation; electron coincidence spectroscopy; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on studies of multiple ionization of atoms and molecules induced by the absorption of a single photon. For the experimental investigations a time-of-flight magnetic bottle spectrometer has been used to detect the emitted electrons in coincidence. READ MORE

  5. 5. Photoelectron spectroscopy in the vicinity of a core-ionization threshold

    Author : Stefan Sundin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The fundamental interaction between photons and free molecules/atoms has been studied by means of soft x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Special interest has been paid to the non-resonant and resonant processes in the vicinity of a core-ionization threshold. READ MORE
