21. Ultra-fast dynamics in atoms and molecules during photoionization: from attoseconds to femtoseconds
Abstract : Treating the correlated behaviour of multiple particles is challenging for both theory and experiment. This thesis reports on a variety of experimental investigations aiming to advance the understanding of fundamental processes in atoms and molecules: double ionization, isomerization and dissociation. 22. Rare-gas Clusters Studied by Electron Spectroscopy : Structure of Heterogeneous Clusters and Effects of Electron Scattering on Auger Decay
Abstract : In this Thesis experimental studies of nano-clusters using synchrotron radiation based photoelectron (UPS and XPS) and Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES) are presented. The investigations may be divided into two parts where the first reports on the structure of heterogeneous two component clusters, and the second concerns electronic decay processes. READ MORE

23. Structural diversity of the lipid A and core oligosaccharide moieties of the lipopolysaccharides from nontypeable and serotype f Haemophilus influenzae
Abstract : This thesis describes structural studies of the oligosaccharide and lipid A moieties of lipopolysaccharides (LPSs) isolated from disease-causing Haemophilus influenzae strains. The nontypeable strains were clinical isolates from the middle ear of children suffering from otitis media and the serotype f strains had been collected from three adults with respiratory tract infections. 24. Multimodal Chemical Imaging of Amyloid Plaque Pathology in Alzheimer’s Disease
Abstract : Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia. AD has been linked to the aggregation of amyloid beta (Aβ) peptides into extracellular deposits, Aβ plaques. These are also found in cognitively unimpaired amyloid-positive (CU-AP) individuals, but these Aβ plaques are primarily diffuse in structure. READ MORE

25. X-ray Absorption and Fragmentationas Initial Steps of Radiation Damage in Free Organic Molecules and Nanoparticles
Abstract : Understanding the molecular radiation damage is crucial in radiobiology, molecular physics, and atmospheric science. In this thesis, the initial steps of radiation damage of anhydrous gas-phase molecules and hydrated nanoparticles were studied using synchrotron radiation based electron-ion coincidence spectroscopy and X-ray absorption spectroscopy under vacuum conditions.
