    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Anti-corrosion coatings; Coil coating; Weathering; FTIR; nano-FTIR; Hyperspectral imaging; AFM; Nanomechanical properties; korrosionsskyddsbeläggnignar; bandlackerade beläggningar; väderbeständighetstestning; FTIR; nano-FTIR; hyperspectral avbildning; Atomkraftsmikroskopi; nanomekaniska egenskaper; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Coil coatings are durable  organic coatings used to protect metal sheets from corrosion and improve their aesthetic properties. Because of their extensive use, coil coatings have long been of interest for industrial and academic researchers. READ MORE

  2. 2. Understanding corrosion protection mechanisms of nanocomposite polymer coatings on carbon steel : A combination of in-situ AFM and electrochemical studies

    Author : Jing Li; Jinshan Pan; Per Claesson; Herman Terryn; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymer coatings; electrochemistry; nano; in-situ AFM; mechanism; corrosion protection; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Corrosion protection of carbon steel is crucial in today’s world and there is an urgent need to replace the hazardous compounds used with environmentally friendly anticorrosion coatings. In this European collaborative research project, new types of functional composite anticorrosion coatings for steel were developed with properties beyond the state-of-the-art using nanotechnology. 3. 3. Corrosion-induced release of zinc and copper in marine environments

    Author : Jan Sandberg; Inger Odnevall Wallinder; Dan Persason; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; copper; zinc; marine environment; runoff rate; atmospheric corrosion; chloride deposition; anti-fouling paints; chemical speciation; bioavailability; cupric ions; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : This licentiate study was initiated by copper, zinc and galvanized steel producers in Europe, who felt a need to assess runoff rates of copper and zinc from the pure metals and commercial products at marine exposure conditions. Their motive was the increasing concern in various European countries and the on-going risk assessments of copper and zinc within the European commission. READ MORE

  4. 4. Superhydrophobic coatings of wax and polymers sprayed from supercritical solutions

    Author : Louise Ovaskainen; Lars Wågberg; Charlotta Turner; Eric Beckman; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; superhydrophobic coatings; polymer; wax; supercritical carbon dioxde; RESS; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The possibility of using supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) as the primary solvent in a spray process for producing superhydrophobic surfaces have been examined in this work. Using scCO2 as solvent will have considerably lower environmental impact compared to an organic solvent since scCO2 is considered a green solvent as it is non-toxic, non-flammable and recyclable. 5. 5. Functional composite coatings containing conducting polymers

    Author : Shadi Jafarzadeh; Per Martin Claesson; Arjan Mol; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Conducting polymer; Polyaniline; Conductive network; Nanocomposite; Active corrosion protection; Interfacial energy; UV curing; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Organic coatings are widely used to lower the corrosion rate of metallic structures. However, penetration of water, oxygen and corrosive ions through pores present in the coating results in corrosion initiation and propagation once these species reach the metal substrate. READ MORE
