  1. 1. Study of Electrochemical Behaviour and Corrosion Resistance of Materials for Pacemaker Lead Applications

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Andreas Örnberg; KTH.; [2007]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Co-base alloy; 35N LT; MP35N; Ta; TiN coating; electrochemical behaviour; corrosion resistance; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi;

    Abstract : For patients suffering bradycardia, i.e., too slow heart rhythm, the common treatment is having a pacemaker implanted. The pacemaker system consists of the pacemaker and a pacing lead. READ MORE

  2. 2. High temperature corrosion in a biomass-fired power boiler Reducing furnace wall corrosion in a waste wood-fired power plant with advanced steam data

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Yousef Alipour; KTH.; [2013]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High temperature corrosion; Waterwalls; Power plant corrosion; NOx reducing enviroments; Biomass; Waste wood; Thermodynamic calculation modelling; corrosion-resistance alloy; Furnace wall corrosion; Högtemperaturekorrosion; Eldstadsväggar; kraftverks korrosion; låg Nox mijöer; biomassa; returträ; Termodynamisk modellering; korrosionsbeständighet legering; eldstadskorrosion;

    Abstract : The use of waste (or recycled) wood as a fuel in heat and power stations is becoming more widespread in Sweden (and Europe), because it is CO2 neutral with a lower cost than forest fuel. However, it is a heterogeneous fuel with a high amount of chlorine, alkali and heavy metals which causes more corrosion than fossil fuels or forest fuel. READ MORE

    Abstract : Today, there is an essential need for lightweight, energy-efficient, environmentally benign engineering systems, and this is the driving force behind the development of a wide range of structural and functional materials for energy generation, energy storage, propulsion, and transportation. These challenges have motivated the use of magnesium alloys for lightweight structural systems. READ MORE

  4. 4. Microstructure Modelling of Additive Manufacturing of Alloy 718

    University dissertation from Trollhättan : University West

    Author : Chamara Kumara; Högskolan Väst.; [2018]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Phase-Field Modelling; Laser metal powder directed energy deposition; Electron Beam Melting; Heat Treatment; Superalloy; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : In recent years, additive manufacturing (AM) of Alloy 718 has received increasing interest in the field of manufacturing engineering owing to its attractive features compared to those of conventional manufacturing methods. The ability to produce complicated geometries, low cost of retooling, and control of the microstructure are some of the advantages of the AM process over traditional manufacturing methods. READ MORE

  5. 5. On the Effect of Grain Size and Hardness on the Machinability of Superalloys and Chip Deformation

    University dissertation from Trollhättan : University West

    Author : Stefan Olovsjö; [2009]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Superalloys; Microstructure; Burr; Machinability; Waspaloy; Chip microstructure; Tool wear; Alloy 718;

    Abstract : Superalloys are used in applications such as gas turbines, steam power plants and nuclear power systems that require good high temperature properties and/or exceptional corrosion resistance. Superalloys are classified as materials that are “difficult to machine”. In production machining is a most commonly occurring procedure. READ MORE
