  1. 1. Roles of Arginine-Vasotocin and Corticotropin-Releasing Hormone in Stress Responses and Agonistic Behaviour of Rainbow Trout

    Author : Tobias Backström; Svante Winberg; Lynne Sneddon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Zoophysiology; arginine-vasotocin AVT ; corticotropin releasing hormone CRH ; stress; stress coping; behaviour; rainbow trout; Zoofysiologi;

    Abstract : The neuropeptides arginine-vasotocin (AVT) and corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) are involved in the hypothalamic-pituitary-interrenal (HPI) axis. During stress, the HPI axis is activated and cortisol is released into the blood. In addition to their role in the HPI axis, AVT and CRH also have behavioural effects. READ MORE

  2. 2. Characterization of brn1.2 and corticotropin-releasing hormone genes in zebrafish

    Author : Gayathri Chandrasekar; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The zebrafish (Danio rerio), a tropical fresh water fish originally found in the rivers of India and Bangladesh has become a popular vertebrate model system over the last decade. The rapid sequencing of the zebrafish genome together with the latest advances in forward and reverse genetics has made this model organism more fascinating as it can be used to decipher the genetic mechanisms involved in the vertebrate development.
