  1. 1. Environmental assessment of emerging technologies: the case of biopolymers

    Author : Selim Nouri; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; life cycle assessment; cost assessment; environmental assessment; process modeling; biopolymer;

    Abstract : Current efforts to mitigate climate change, using renewable resources and reducing waste, drives the development of new industrial processes. In this study we examine the technologies for conversion of biomass to plastics. READ MORE

  2. 2. Accident Risk and Environmental Assessment : Development of an Assessment Guideline with Examination in Northern Scandinavia

    Author : Markus Lundkvist; Lennart Strömquist; Christer Jonasson; Rolf Nyberg; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : In environmental impact assessment (EIA), accident risk should be considered as one impact. However, few studies have compared assessed risk levels with documented accidents. There is thus a need for assessing accuracy of risk assessment methodologies. READ MORE

  3. 3. Towards improvement of geometrical quality for manual assembly parts

    Author : Mikael Rosenqvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; calculation model; geometry system; Interview; assessment; action cost.; assembly; error; ergonomics; assembly complexity; design for assembly; robust design; complexity; manual assembly; sustainable; tolerance analysis and design; CAT; quality; failure; action cost; assembly ergonomics;

    Abstract : Geometrical variation affects all mass-produced products. This variation will lead to deviations from the nominal design of the product both in terms of aesthetical and functional properties. Geometrical variation originates either from the manufacturing of the parts or from the assembly process. Abstract : Urbanization is a global phenomenon, happening on a massive scale and at a rapid rate, with 68% of the planet’s population predicted to be living in cities by 2050 (UN-DESA, 2018). The sustainability of a city (Goal 11 of UN SDGs) undergoing rapid urbanization depends on its ability to maintain a low consumption of resources and materials at any given time (referred to as the urban metabolic rate), whilst simultaneously providing essential municipal services to its inhabitants, such as a water supply, wastewater treatment and solid waste management.
