  1. 1. Process-based transaction cost analysis: a cost management exploration in SCA Packaging

    Author : Hans Knutsson; Företagsekonomiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; containerboard production; dynamic transaction costs; cost drivers; cost structure analysis; economic organisation; transaction cost attributes; transaction costs; cost management; Organizational science; Organisationsteori;

    Abstract : Firms compete with each other to earn the highest profit. A wide range of issues needs to be considered in order to do so – decisions about products, markets, customers and, not to forget, organisation have to be made. READ MORE

  2. 2. On Bayesian Decision Analysis for Evaluating Alternative Actions at Contaminated Sites

    Author : Jenny Norrman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; influence diagrams; Bayesian decision analysis; groundwater; data worth analysis; contaminated sites; decision analysis; risk analysis;

    Abstract : Today, contaminated land is a widespread infrastructural problem and it is widely recognised that returning all contaminated sites to background levels, or even to levels suitable for the most sensitive land use, is not technically or financially feasible. The large number of contaminated sites and the high costs of remediation, are strong incentives for applying cost-efficient investigation and remediation strategies that consider the inherent uncertainties. 3. 3. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm : Epidemiological and Health Economic Aspects

    Author : Kevin Mani; Anders Wanhainen; Martin Björck; Jonas Lundkvist; Craig Kent; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Abdominal aortic aneurysm; cost; cost-effectiveness; endovascular aneurysm repair; screening; surgery; survival; Vascular surgery; Kärlkirurgi; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Abstract : Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a common disease that is life threatening when rupture occurs. The aims of this thesis were to study (I) the long-term survival after AAA repair, (II) the cost of repair with open (OR) and endovascular (EVAR) technique, (III) the effect of different statistical methods on interpretation of cost data, (IV) the prevalence of the disease among patients with suspected arterial disease referred to the vascular laboratory, and (V) the cost-effectiveness of selective high-risk screening. 4. 4. Interaction Analysis in Multivariable Control Systems : Applications to Bioreactors for Nitrogen Removal

    Author : Björn Halvarsson; Bengt Carlsson; Elling Jacobsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; activated sludge process; biological nitrogen removal; bioreactor models; control structure design; cost-efficient operation; decentralized control; interaction measures; minimum variance control; multivariable control; wastewater treatment; Automatic control; Reglerteknik; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Abstract : Many control systems of practical importance are multivariable. In such systems, each manipulated variable (input signal) may affect several controlled variables (output signals) causing interaction between the input/output loops. READ MORE

  5. 5. Predicting Linguistic Structure with Incomplete and Cross-Lingual Supervision

    Author : Oscar Täckström; Joakim Nivre; Jussi Karlgren; Ryan McDonald; Hal Daumé III; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; linguistic structure prediction; structured prediction; latent-variable model; semi-supervised learning; multilingual learning; cross-lingual learning; indirect supervision; partial supervision; ambiguous supervision; part-of-speech tagging; dependency parsing; named-entity recognition; sentiment analysis; Computational Linguistics; Datorlingvistik;

    Abstract : Contemporary approaches to natural language processing are predominantly based on statistical machine learning from large amounts of text, which has been manually annotated with the linguistic structure of interest. However, such complete supervision is currently only available for the world's major languages, in a limited number of domains and for a limited range of tasks.
