  1. 11. Influence of Fluid Shear on Primary  Nucleation of Organic Compounds in Solution  Jin Liu  Doctoral Thesis

    Author : Jin Liu; Åke Rasmuson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Agitation; Primary nucleation; Induction time; Fluid shear; Energy dissipation; Mass transfer; Molecular alignment; Cluster coalescence; Butyl paraben; Curcumin; m-Hydroxybenzoic acid; Solid-liquid interfacial energy; Nuclei critical radius.; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : In this work, three experimental systems have been used to study the influence of agitation/ fluid shear on primary nucleation. Three organic compounds have been used with different solvents, i.e. butyl paraben in ethanol solution, curcumin in ethanol solution and m-hydroxybenzoic acid in 1-propanol solution. READ MORE

  2. 12. Influence of fluid shear on primary nucleation of low molecular organic compounds in solution

    Author : Jin Liu; Åke Rasmuson; Mårten Behm; Ulf Gedde; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Agitation; Primary nucleation; Induction time; Fluid shear; Energy input; Mass transfer; Molecular alignment; Butyl paraben; Curcumin; m-Hydroxybenzoic acid; Solid-liquid interfacial energy; Nuclei critical radius;

    Abstract : In this project, two experimental systems have been set up to study the influence of fluid shear on primary nucleation. In the first set of experiments, in total about 3000 nucleation experiments have been done with butyl paraben/ethanol solutions, curcumin/ethanol solutions and m-hydroxybenzoic acid/1-propanol solutions in capped vials agitated with magnetic stir bars. 3. 13. Numerical study of particle suspensions in Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids

    Author : Dhiya Alghalibi; Luca Brandt; Metin Muradoglu; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; inertial suspensions; rheology; non-Newtonian fluids; visco-elastic; sedimentation; deformable particle; hyper-elastic.; tröghetsbehäftad suspension; reologi; icke-Newtonska fluider; vis- koelastik; sedimentering; deformerbara partiklar; hyperelastik; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : Solid or deformable particles suspended in a viscous fluid are of scientific and technological interest in a broad range of applications. Pyroclastic flows from volcanoes, sedimentation flows in river bed, food industries, oil-well drilling, as well as blood flow in the human body and the motion of suspended micro-organisms in water (like plankton) are among the possible examples. 4. 14. Lubricant replenishment in the vicinity of an EHD contact

    Author : Per-Olof Larsson-Kråik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : Lubricants are subjected to high pressures in many mechanical devices - notably gears, cams, piston rings and rolling element bearings. The contact pressure between the ball and the race in a ball bearing can be as high as 5 GPa. READ MORE
