2. Towards a Flexible Monte Carlo Calibration of a Whole Body Counter Spectrometer System - Highlighting the Need of Increased Model Complexity for Large Plastic Scintillators
Abstract : Whole body counters, WBC, can be used for fast and accurate screening and follow-ups in the case of an emergency situation involving ionizing radiation given that the WBC calibration method is fast and versatile. A Monte Carlo model of a WBC system could meet these requirements under the condition that the model is an accurate description of the WBC system. READ MORE

3. New Cu-I cluster compounds with luminescent properties
Abstract : The aim of this thesis has been to investigate how the synthesis route, choice of solvent and counter-ions effects the crystallization of Cu(I)I systems, and to investigate the correlation between the structure and luminescence properties of the systems. In order to do so a series of compounds based on an anion containing Cu(I)I, stabilized by organic cations have been produced. READ MORE

4. Remembering and Forgetting in the Archive : Instituting ‘Group Material’ (1979–1996)
Abstract : My PhD submission is made up of a constellation of three elements that form a body of textual material / theory and practice event / exhibition. (1) A dimension of critical writing or dissertation that has two parts: (a) Retrospective / Prospective: Activating the Archive, September 1, 2010, and (b) an accretion of further analysis, Archive, Archived, Archiving, September 1, 2011. 5. Black liquor gasification : burner characteristics and syngas cooling
Abstract : Black liquor gasification at high temperature is a promising alternative to the conventional recovery boiler process used in chemical pulp mills today. Compared to a conventional recovery boiler a black liquor gasifier can increase the total energy efficiency of a chemical pulp mill and produce a synthesis gas that can be used for production of motor fuel.
