1. Covalent Surface Modification of Degradable Polymers for Increased Biocompatibility
Abstract : Degradable polymers have gained an increased attention in the field of biomedical applications over the past decades, for example in tissue engineering. One way of improving the biocompatibility of these polymers is by chemical surface modification, however the risk of degradation during the modification procedure is a limiting factor. READ MORE

2. Development of a covalent site-specific antibody labeling strategy by the use of photoactivable Z domains
Abstract : The joining of two molecular functions or the strategy of adding functions to proteins has been tremendously important for the development of proteins as tools in research and clinic. Depending on the intended application, there are a wide variety of functions that can be added to a proteins. READ MORE

3. Spatially Controlled Covalent Immobilization of Biomolecules on Silicon Surfaces
Abstract : The work described in this thesis aims to achieving surface patterning through chemical activation of thiolated silicon oxide surfaces, resulting in a spatially controlled covalent immobilization of biomolecules with high resolution.Existing chemical methods to immobilize molecules on surfaces do not reach below the micrometer scale while the ones allowing for spatial control mostly lead to non-covalent adsorption of molecules on surfaces, or require several successive chemical reactions to obtain the final covalent immobilization. 4. Responsive Molecular Systems through Dynamic Covalent Chemistry
Abstract : Nature tends to inspire research in chemistry. Systems that emerge from molecules interacting via reaction networks is something that life has mastered over the course of evolution in order to produce complexity. Dynamic reactions are key in systems chemistry, where reaction networks give rise to complex, emergent behavior. READ MORE

5. Covalent Vapor-Phase Grafting of Degradable Polymers
READ MORE
