21. Studies on expression and regulation of phospholipase A2 and cyclooxygenase 2 in gastrointestinal tissues with special reference to colorectal cancer
Abstract : The phospholipases A2 (PLA2s) are phospholipid hydrolyzing enzymes that in mammalian cells exist in several different isoform including cytosolic PLA2 (cPLA2), group I PLA2 (PLA2-I) and group II PLA2 (PLA2-ll). PLA2 is involved in production of inflammatory mediators, membrane remodelling, digestive functions and stimulation of prolifemtion. READ MORE

22. Post-polio syndrome : analysis of inflammation and immune modulation
Abstract : Poliomyelitis is a viral infection, which affects the anterior horn cells of the spinal cord leaving patients with different levels and distribution of muscle weakness and loss of, or decreased, function. This situation has previously been regarded as a stable condition. READ MORE

23. Regulation of prostaglandin E2 synthesis in human gingival fibroblasts
Abstract : Prostaglandins, especially, prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) play an important role in inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and periodontitis. The aim of the present thesis was to study the production and the regulation of PGE2 with special reference to the key enzymes phospholipase A2 (PLA2) and cyclooxygenase (COX) at the rnRNA level in human gingival fibroblasts. 24. Endometrial receptivity and development of new contraceptive methods
Abstract : Ovulation and endometrial development as well as contraceptive efficacy was studied after treatment with the antiprogestin mifepristone. Mechanism of action after treatment with the gestagen levonorgestrel or mifepristone in doses effective for emergency contraception was also evaluated. READ MORE

25. New potential targets in medulloblastoma therapy : studies on cellular mechanisms and mediators
Abstract : Medulloblastoma is an embryonal tumour that mainly affects children. It is the most common malignant brain tumour in children and accounts for 15% of all childhood brain tumours. It most often presents in the cerebellum and is considered to be a disorder of normal development. READ MORE
