  1. 1. Cracking in concrete : crack prevention with air-cooling and crack distribution with steel fibre reinforcement

    Author : Patrik Groth; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : This Licentiate Thesis consists of four parts. The first two parts, paper A and B, deal with air-cooling by means of embedded pipes in order to reduce thermal cracking in concrete structures. These two papers are submitted for publication to RILEM Journal; ‘Materials and Structures'. READ MORE

  2. 2. Predicting shear type crack initiation and growth in concrete with non-linear finite element method

    Author : Richard Malm; Håkan Sundquist; Anders Ansell; Kent Gylltoft; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; non-linear finte element analysis; concrete; crack width; crack propagation; shear; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract :   In this thesis, the possibility to numerically describing the behaviour that signifies shear type cracking in concrete is studied. Different means for describing cracking are evaluated where both methods proposed in design codes based on experiments and advanced finite element analyses with a non-linear material description are evaluated. 3. 3. Fibres in reinforced concrete structures - analysis, experiments and design

    Author : Anette M Jansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; crack width; stress crack-width relationship; design methods; post cracking; analysis method; Fibre-reinforced concrete;

    Abstract : Potential benefits from fibres in concrete are improved crack control and the possibility of more slender structures. The extent of the crack control depends, among other factors, on the amount of fibres added, and plays a great role for durability. READ MORE

  4. 4. Chloride Induced Corrosion of Steel Bars in Fibre Reinforced Concrete

    Author : Carlos Gil Berrocal; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; electrical resistivity; chloride ingress; fibre reinforced concrete; crack width; reinforced concrete durability; chloride-induced corrosion;

    Abstract : Chloride-induced corrosion of reinforcement is the most widespread degradation mechanism affecting the durability of reinforced concrete structures. Macro-cracks provide a preferential path for moisture, oxygen and Cl ions to reach the embedded reinforcement, playing a major role in their total transport. READ MORE

  5. 5. Shear cracks in concrete structures subjected to in-plane stresses

    Author : Richard Malm; Håkan Sundquist; Kent Gylltoft; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Shear; plane state stress; crack width; FE analysis; design standards; serviceability state; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Abstract : After only two years of service, extensive cracking was found in the webs of two light-rail commuter line bridges in Stockholm, the Gröndal and Alvik bridges. Due to this incident it was found necessary to study the means available for analysing shear cracking in concrete structures subjected to in-plane stresses. READ MORE
