2. Modelling of fracture toughness using peridynamics : A Study of J-integral, essential work and homogenisation
Abstract : Fracture toughness is one of the most important properties of a material. Being able toaccurately estimate the energy that goes into forming new crack surfaces is essential for the development of new materials, quality assurance, structural monitoring and failure analysis. READ MORE

3. On failure modelling in finite element analysis : material imperfections and element erosion
Abstract : This dissertation concerns failure modelling with material imperfections and element erosion in finite element analyses. The aim has been to improve the element erosion technique, which is simple to use and implement and also computationally inexpensive. READ MORE

4. Weakening of Crack-tip Singularity due to Buckling of Thin Bodies under Tension
Abstract : When thin sheets containing a crack is subjected to tensile loading in the direction perpendicular to the crack surface out of plane displacement will occur in areas surrounding the crack. By this the stress state in the vicinity of the crack tip is changed and leads to a weaker crack tip singularity than the r-1/2 by linear elastic fracture mechanics. READ MORE

5. Oxygen Induced High Temperature Crack Growth in Ni-base Superalloys
Abstract : Oxygen induced crack growth is a serious concern for the performance of Ni-base superalloys. These alloys are used in gas-turbine engines where they are exposed to hightemperatures, mechanical loads and oxygen-rich environments. READ MORE
