  1. 1. Critical Phenomena and Exchange Coupling in Magnetic Heterostructures

    Author : Martina Ahlberg; Gabriella Andersson; Björgvin Hjörvarsson; Steve Bramwell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phase transitions; critical behavior; 2D XY model; MOKE; magnetic thin films and superlattices; amorphous multilayers; magnetic proximity effects; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : The continuous phase transition in thin magnetic films and superlattices has been studied using the magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE) and polarized neutron scattering (PNR).  It has been shown that the critical behavior of amorphous thin films belonging to the 2D XY universality class can be described within the same theory as crystalline sample. 2. 2. On systems thinking in logistics management - A critical perspective

    Author : Magnus Lindskog; Martin Rudberg; Mattias Elg; Britta Gammelgaard; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Logistics management; Systems thinking; Systems theory; Systems approach; Critical; Interpretive; Actors;

    Abstract : Systems thinking. Systems theory. The systems approach. All these concepts have in various guises been claimed as central to logistics management, since its dawning in the mid twentieth century. READ MORE

  3. 3. Psychological phenomena and first-person perspectives : critical discussions of some arguments in philosophy of mind

    Author : Pär Sundström; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES;

    Abstract : The topic of this thesis is how different phenomena, commonly regarded as "psychological" or "mental", are or can be apprehended in the first person. The aim is to show that a number of influential texts of contemporary philosophy display a particular type of oversight on this topic. READ MORE

  4. 4. Routinizing Workarounds : The Case of a Mandated PDMS in Critical Care

    Author : Thomas Ejnefjäll; Pär Ågerfalk; Magnus Rotvit Perlt Hansen; Franck Tétard; Ulf Melin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; workaround; routines; routine dynamics; mandated; PDMS; healthcare; critical care; Information Systems; Informationssystem;

    Abstract : Workarounds are an emerging area within information systems (IS) research where contributions are increasing but there seem to be different views on what constitutes a workaround. While some aspects of workarounds have attracted considerable research attention and show a high degree of consensus, other aspects contain scarce or conflicting findings. READ MORE

  5. 5. Phase transitions in novel superfluids and systems with correlated disorder

    Author : Hannes Meier; Mats Wallin; Asle Sudbø; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; condensed matter physics; phase transitions; critical phenomena; spin models; quantum phase transitions; quantum fluids; superfluidity; superconductivity; disordered systems; Bose glass; dirty bosons; vortex pinning; statistical mechanics; Monte Carlo simulation; Wolff algorithm; classical worm algorithm; Wang-Landau algorithm; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Condensed matter systems undergoing phase transitions rarely allow exact solutions. The presence of disorder renders the situation  even worse but collective Monte Carlo methods and parallel algorithms allow numerical descriptions. READ MORE
