1. Critical loads - assessment of uncertainty
Abstract : The effects of data uncertainty in applications of the critical loads concept were investigated on different spatial resolutions in Sweden and northern Czech Republic. Critical loads of acidity (CL) were calculated for Sweden using the biogeochemical model PROFILE. READ MORE

2. Friction and contact phenomena of disc brakes related to squeal
Abstract : Brake squeal is a sound with a main frequency between 1 and 20 kHz, generated by an oscillation of the components of the brake system. The energy driving the oscillation is supplied by the friction between the disc and the pads. READ MORE

3. Optimal deterrents to malingering : the role of incentives, attitudes and information costs in social insurance, especially sickness benefit and welfare
Abstract : In a sequence of four models which all generalize the single-period model of Diamond and Mirrlees (1978), we explain and optimize the structure of static social insurance against health-related disability in an economy where detected cheaters feel ashamed, where some of the workers are more honest than the others, and where the cost of ascertaining disease and disability varies. Given the insurance the workers report their disease to the insurer who benevolently chooses the consumption in each state and the probability with which to use his test of disease and disability. 4. Modeling pooling and perishable items in inventory systems
Abstract : This thesis is built on three papers considering different problems in inventory control. The first paper considers a two-location newsboy model with the possibility of making lateral transshipments when needed. Usually, when considering newsboy models it is assumed that all demand in a period occurs at once. READ MORE

5. Analysis of High-Frequency Electrical Transients in Offshore Wind Parks
Abstract : In this thesis, a study of high frequency electromagnetic transient phenomena is performed. Models of various components needed for simulations of high frequency transients, such as transformers, cables and breakers are developed. READ MORE
