  1. 1. The neutron-induced fission cross section of 233Pa : and the quest for clean and safe nuclear energy

    Author : Fredrik Tovesson; Andreas Oberstedt; Dietrich Hilscher; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysik; fission; cross section; Pa-233; U-233; fysik; Physics; Fysik; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Neutron-induced fission of 233Pa has been investigated between 1.0 and 8.5 MeV, and the reaction cross section was determined. Due to the short half-life of 233Pa for β-decay, fission events from the daughter product 233U affect the analysis of the protactinium experiment. READ MORE

  2. 2. Λ-Λ hyperons: the road to estimate the production cross-section in protonproton collisions

    Author : Gandharva Appagere; Maria Doncel Monasterio; Per-Erik Tegnér; Michael Papenbrock; Andreas Heinz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hyperons; multi-strangeness; neutron-stars; cross-section; Lambda-lambda; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : In this study, we analyse the $\Lambda$-$\Lambda$ hyperon channel in proton-proton scattering, $pp \mapsto \Lambda\Lambda + K^+K^+, \,\,\Lambda\mapsto p+\pi^-$, with a proton beam energy of $4.5$ GeV using the High Acceptance Di-Electron Spectrometer (HADES) at GSI. READ MORE

  3. 3. Reaction Cross Section Measurements for p,d,3He and 4He at Intermediate Energies

    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Reaction cross section; proton; deuteron; 3He; alpha particle; measurement; intermediate energy; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : Reaction cross sections were measured for protons at 65.5 MeV, for deuterons at 37.8, 65.5, 97. READ MORE

  4. 4. Nucleon-Induced Fission Cross Sections of Heavy Nuclei in the Intermediate Energy Region

    Author : Alexander Prokofiev; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Fission; cross section; n; f reaction; p; intermediate energy; database; nuclear reaction; neutron; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Abstract : Fission is the most important nuclear reaction for society at large today due to its use in energy production. However, this has raised the problem of how to treat the long-lived radioactive waste from nuclear reactors. READ MORE

  5. 5. Dosimetry and radiation quality in fast-neutron radiation therapy : A study of radiation quality and basic dosimetric properties of fast-neutrons for external beam radiotherapy and problems associated with corrections of measured charged particle cross-sections

    Author : Jonas Söderberg; Gudrun Alm Carlsson; Crister Ceberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neutron; Dosimetry; Radiotherapy; Monte Carlo; Microdosimetry; Cross-section; RBE; LET; Energy-loss corrections; Radiological physics; Radiofysik;

    Abstract : The dosimetric properties of fast-neutron beams with energies ≤80 MeV were explored using Monte Carlo techniques. Taking into account transport of all relevant types of released charged particles (electrons, protons, deuterons, tritons, 3He and α particles) pencil-beam dose distributions were derived and used to calculate absorbed dose distributions.
