  1. 1. Modification of fluff pulp fibres: Cross-linking and alkali extraction

    Author : Kristoffer Lund; [2011]
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fibre network; dry defibration; network strength; fluff pulp; Absorption; cross-linking; alkali extraction; kraft pulp;

    Abstract : Fluff pulp has been one of the key components of hygienic products, such as diapers, for many years. Fluff pulp is dry defibrated and air-laid into the absorption core of diapers. The introduction of superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) in the 1980s decreased the dependence on fluff pulp, as the SAPs became the main absorbing material. READ MORE

  2. 2. Flexible Synthesis of Rigid Cyclophanes - Synthesis and derivatisation of 2,7-diaza-1,2,3,6,7,8-hexahydropyrene into chiral macrocycles

    University dissertation from Bioorganic Chemistry, Lund University

    Author : Jörgen Toftered; [2004]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Macromolecular chemistry; Makromolekylär kemi; biomimetic; cross-linking; thiourea; urea; difluorodinitrobenzene; cyclodimerisation; Cyclophanes; macrocycles;

    Abstract : Rigid, chiral and amphiphilic cyclophanes of potential use as biomimetic host molecules were prepared by cyclic dimerisation of chiral diamino building blocks with amino-reactive cross-linking reagents. A reliable synthesis of the scaffold 2,7-diaza-1,2,3,6,7,8-hexahydropyrene was developed. READ MORE

  3. 3. Effects of Citric Acid on Starch-Based Barrier Coatings

    University dissertation from Bioorganic Chemistry, Lund University

    Author : Erik Olsson; Lars Järnström; Caisa Johansson; Julien Bras; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Starch; Citric acid; Cross-linking; hydrolysis; Montmorillonite; WVTR; OTR; Barrier properties; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : With growing environmental concerns, efforts are made to replace petroleum based products with renewable alternatives. This is particularly evident in the packaging industry, where replacing synthetic polymers with renewable materials is of considerable interest. READ MORE

  4. 4. Controllable degradation product migration from biomedical polyester-ethers

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Anders Höglund; Ann-Christine Albertsson; Lars Wågberg; [2007]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; degradation products; ε-caprolactone; 1; 5-dioxepan-2-one; 6-hydroxyhexanoic acid; 3- 2-hydroxyethoxy propanoic acid; cross-linking; inflammatory response; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry Organic chemistry Polymer chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi Organisk kemi Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : The use of degradable biomedical materials has during the past decades indeed modernized medical science, finding applications in e.g. tissue engineering and drug delivery. The key question is to adapt the material with respect to mechanical properties, surface characteristics and degradation profile to suit the specific application. READ MORE

  5. 5. Effects of plasticizing and crosslinking on coatings based on blends of starch-PVOH and starch-lignin

    University dissertation from Karlstads universitet

    Author : Asif Javed; Henrik Ullsten; Peter Rättö; Lars Järnström; Douglas Bousfield; [2018]
