1. Polyamine Pathway as Drug Target against Malaria
Abstract : Malaria, caused by the protozoan parasite Plasmodium falciparum is responsible for about 600.000 death cases every year. Mainly affected are populations of subtropical countries in Africa and the largest groups of victims are children below the age of 5 years. READ MORE

2. The structural basis for the catalytic specificity of manganese lipoxygenases : 3D structure analysis of the lipoxygenase of Magnaporthe oryzae
Abstract : Lipoxygenases (LOX) catalyze regio- and stereospecific oxygenation of polyunsaturated fatty acids to hydroperoxides. These hydroperoxides are further metabolized to leukotrienes and lipoxins in mammals, and are involved in asthma and inflammation. LOX of animals and plants contain iron as catalytic metal (FeLOX). 3. Plant aquaporin regulation: Structural and functional studies using diffraction and scattering techniques
Abstract : Water is the basis for life as we know it. It is only logical then that all organisms have evolved specialized proteins, aquaporins, which regulate water flow across their membranes. Plants, which are immobile, depend more on their environment and also use water flows to move, to breathe, and to grow. READ MORE

4. To reduce a ribonucleotide – Radical solutions in enzymology in form and function
Abstract : It has been more than 50 years since the enzyme system ribonucleotide reductase (RNR), catalysing the reduction of ribonucleotides to deoxyribonucleotides, was first discovered. RNR was also the first time that radical chemistry was revealed in an enzyme. READ MORE

5. Glypican-1: Structural and functional analysis of the N-glycosylated human protein
Abstract : Glypicans are multifunctional cell surface heparan sulphate proteoglycans co-regulating numerous signalling pathways, and are thereby involved in the control of cellular division, differentiation, and morphogenesis. The heparan sulphate (HS) chains are responsible for many of those biological functions; nevertheless recent studies suggest functional roles for the glypican core proteins in mediating the signalling of various growth factors.
