  1. 1. CT Urography : Efforts to Reduce the Radiation Dose

    Author : Pär Dahlman; Anders Magnusson; Anders Sundin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Urinary tract malignancy; renal cell carcinoma; urography; x-ray computed tomography; radiation dosage; dose escalation; hematuria diagnosis; Diagnostic radiology; Diagnostisk radiologi; Radiologi; Radiology;

    Abstract : Computed tomography urography (CTU) is today the imaging method used to investigate patients with suspected urinary tract malignancy, replacing the old imaging method intravenous pyelography (IVP) about a decade ago. The downside of this shift was that the effective radiation dose to the examined patient was eight times higher for CTU compared to IVP. READ MORE

  2. 2. Image Quality Optimisation and Dose Management in CT, SPECT/CT, and PET/CT

    Author : Marcus Söderberg; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CT; SPECT; PET; dosimetry; image quality; optimisation; dose reduction; automatic exposure control; contrast medium; phantom; image reconstruction; human observer;

    Abstract : The significant increase in the use of CT, alone or combined with SPECT or PET, has raised concerns about patient radiation exposure and the consequent increased risk of malignancy later in life. The overall objective of this work was to evaluate and optimise different approaches for minimising patient radiation absorbed dose and maintaining or improving image quality in CT, SPECT/CT, and PET/CT. 3. 3. PET/CT in oncology : Patient experience, image quality and the value of information

    Author : Camilla Andersson; Birgitta Johansson; Håkan Ahlström; Pernilla Lagergren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : PET CT; patient experience; image quality.; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Abstract : The overall aim was to investigate patients’ experiences with a PET/CT examination, satisfaction with care provided in connection to the examination and whether web-based information can improve satisfaction with care and image quality, compared to standard care. An additional aim was to explore how satisfaction with care and image quality is associated with health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and perceived stress. READ MORE

  4. 4. CT with 3D-Image Reconstructions in Preoperative Planning

    Author : Angeliki Dimopoulou; Anders Magnusson; Anders Persson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CT Angiography; 3D-image reconstructions; haemodialysis; AVF AVG; DIEP flap; surgery time; complicated renal calculi; PNL; true nonenhanced images; virtual nonenhanced images; CT Urography; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Computed tomography is one of the most evolving fields of modern radiology. The current CT applications permit among other things angiography, 3D image reconstructions, material decomposition and tissue characterization. CT is an important tool in the assessment of specific patient populations prior to an invasive or surgical procedure. READ MORE

  5. 5. Quantification Methods for Clinical Studies in Nuclear Medicine - Applications in AMS, PET/CT and SPECT/CT

    Author : Marie Sydoff; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nuclear Medicine; AMS; PET CT; SPECT CT; dosimetry; internal dosimetry; quantification; activity quantification; volume delineation; radiation; biokinetics; pharmacokinetics; biodistribution;

    Abstract : An essential part of the development of new radiopharmaceuticals for use in diagnostic nuclear medicine is the determination of its biokinetic properties. The uptake and turn-over of the radiopharmaceutical in the source organs is of great interest since this could determine whether the radiopharmaceutical would be suitable for clinical use or not.
