  1. 1. Compact Representations and Multi-cue Integration for Robotics

    Author : Robert Söderberg; Klas Nordberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical engineering; bin picking application; detection and representation of local features; pose estimation; multi-cue integration; Elektroteknik; Electrical engineering; Elektroteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents methods useful in a bin picking application, such as detection and representation of local features, pose estimation and multi-cue integration.The scene tensor is a representation of multiple line or edge segments and was first introduced by Nordberg in [30]. 2. 2. Additive Integration of Information in Multiple-Cue Judgment

    Author : Linnea Karlsson; Peter Juslin; Tommy Gärling; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates adaptive shifts between different cognitive processes in multiple-cue judgment tasks. At least two qualitatively and quantitatively different cognitive strategies can be identified: one process in which abstraction and integration of cue-criterion relations form the basis for the judgment (Einhorn, Kleinmutz & Kleinmutz, 1979) and one which is based onsimilarity comparisons between a probe and similar exemplars stored in memory (Medin & Schaffer, 1978; Nosofsky, 1984; Nosofsky & Johanssen, 2000). 3. 3. A model-free voting approach to cue integration

    Author : Carsten G. Bräutigam; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Vision systems, such as "seeing" robots, should be able tooperate robustly in generic environments. In this thesis, weinvestigate certain aspects of how these demands of robusmessof a systems approach to vision could be met. READ MORE

  5. 5. Bird orientation: external cues and ecological factors

    Author : Johan Bäckman; Evolutionär ekologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tracking radar; Emlen funnel.; Animal ecology; Djurekologi; oscillatory orientation; roosting flight; scatter; concentration; heading; cue calibration; light dependent; magnetoreception; subcutaneous fat stores; body condition; energetics; geomagnetic field; visual cues; orientation; birds; migration;

    Abstract : Birds are generally capable of accurate orientation. In this thesis I present studies about the external cues and the ecological factors that influences bird orientation. A multitude of environmental cues are used to select and maintain a proper direction. READ MORE
