  1. 1. From Cue to Recall : The Temporal Dynamics of Long-Term Memory Retrieval

    Author : Robin Hellerstedt; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; think no-think; memory intrusion; retrieval-induced forgetting; ERP; long-term memory; cued recall;

    Abstract : A fundamental function of long-term memory is the ability to retrieve a specific memory when encountering a retrieval cue. The purpose of this dissertation was to further our understanding of such cued recall by investigating the temporal dynamics from the presentation of the retrieval cue until the target memory is recalled. 2. 2. How do you cue? : self-generated retrieval cues and successfull recall

    Author : Timo Mäntylä; Lars-Göran Nilsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Successful Recall; Cue Effectiveness; Compatibility; Distinctiveness; Self-generation;

    Abstract : The present thesis deals with the determinants of good memory performance. A more specific objective of the thesis was to examine prerequisites for successful recall performance from the point of view of cue effectiveness. READ MORE

  3. 3. Effects of Testing and Enactment on Memory

    Author : Veit Kubik; Lars-Göran Nilsson; Fredrik Jönsson; Jonas Olofsson; Monika Knopf; Mihály Racsmány; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; testing effect; test-potentiated learning; enactment effect; cued recall; forgetting; episodic memory; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : Learning occurs not only when we encode information but also when we test our memory for this information at a later time. In three empirical studies, I investigated the individual and combined effects of interleaved testing (via repeated rounds of study and test practice) and encoding (via motor enactment) during learning on later cued-recall performance for action phrases. 4. 4. Helping Hands : Motion and integration in action memory

    Author : Jan von Essen; Lars-Göran Nilsson; Monik Knopf; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; episodic memory; action memory; cued recall; motor activation; association; sentence integration; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : Verbal information has predominantly been the to-be-remembered materials in human memory research for more than a century. In recent years some interesting deviations from the established rules of verbal memory have been observed in subjects who have been asked to motorically self-perform (enact) action sentences at the encoding phase of the memory task, instead of only hearing or reading them as in a traditional verbal task (VT). 5. 5. Improving incident reports in the swedish armed forces

    Abstract : It is generally maintained that learning should be a part of the daily routines of many organizations; this is often referred to as lesson learned processes. The purpose of organizational learning is to foster improvements that seek to both reduce incidents and accidents and reduce their consequences when they nevertheless happen. READ MORE
