  1. 1. Factors affecting cup wear and migration in total hip arthroplasty

    Author : Halldor Bergvinsson; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; THA; THR; arthroplasty; osteoarthritis; Hip surgery; RSA; Radiostereometry; wear; cup wear; polyethylene; HXLPE; VEPE; cup migration; HOOS;

    Abstract : Höftprotesoperationer har blivit en mycket vanlig operation med generellt goda resultat. Allt fler och allt yngre patienter opereras vilket ställer högre krav på att höftprotesen fungerar bättre och håller längre så att en omoperation kan undvikas. READ MORE

  2. 2. Radiographic assessment of cup migration and wear after hip replacement

    Author : Thomas Ilchmann; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; measurement; assessment; loosening; migration; wear; cup; Hip; arthroplasty; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : Methods are needed for accurate measurement of acetabular cup migration and wear after hip replacement. The EBRA (Ein Bild Röntgen Analyse) method was recently introduced as a computerized method for radiographic assessment of acetabular cup migration. READ MORE

  3. 3. The role of head size in total hip arthroplasty - Dislocation, wear and cup stability

    Author : Georgios Tsikandylakis; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; arthroplasty; head; dislocation; wear; corrosion; cup migration;

    Abstract : Large heads are used in total hip arthroplasty, with the aim of reducing the risk of dislocation, but there are concerns related to polyethylene wear, corrosion and cup loosening. Paper I is an observational study that aimed to investigate whether the transition from 28-mm to 32-mm heads and thereafter to 36-mm heads in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA) after osteoarthritis has been followed by a reduction in dislocation rates in the Nordic countries. 4. 4. Computational hydrodynamics applied to an America's Cup class keel - best practice and validation of methods

    Author : Sofia Werner; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFD; America s Cup; induced drag; wind tunnel; winglet; validation; keel; vortex drag; wake survey;

    Abstract : Numerical predictions of the flow around yacht keels can be performed with various types of methods. In this work computational fluid dynamic (CFD) computations are validated against wind tunnel studies of an America's Cup Class keel with the purpose of investigating the accuracy that can be achieved with CFD, which methods that are suitable and how they should be used in the best way. 5. 5. The Uncemented Cup in Total Hip Arthroplasty : stability, Wear and Osteolysis

    Author : Volker T C Otten; Sead Crnalic; Kjell G Nilsson; André Stark; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Background: Artificial hip joint replacement has undergone tremendous development in the past 100 years. In the beginning, complications, such as infection and early loosening, were the rule rather than the exception. Today, complications of any sort are rare during the first decade after the operation.
