  2. 17. Upconversion Detection for Improved Nonlinear Mid-infrared Spectroscopy in Flames

    Author : Rasmus Lyngbye Pedersen; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; infrared; upconversion; degenerate four wave mixing; hydrogen cyanide; polarisation spectroscopy;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the addition of upconversion detection to non-linear mid-infrared laser spectroscopy techniques. The techniques investigated here are degenerate four wave mixing (DFWM) and infrared polarization spectroscopy (IRPS). READ MORE

  3. 18. Pheromone production in the butterfly Pieris napi L

    Author : Rushana Murtazina; Raimondas Mozuraitis; Joop van Loon; KTH; []
    Keywords : Pieris; Lepidoptera; pheromone; aphrodisiaca; antiaphrodisiaca; biosynthesis; flower volatiles; stable isotopes; incorporation; neral; geranial; methyl salicylate; benzyl cyanide; L - phenylalanine;

    Abstract : Aphrodisiac and anti-aphrodisiac pheromone production and composition in the green-veined white butterfly Pieris napi L. were investigated.Aphrodisiac pheromone biosynthesis had different time constraints in butterflies from the diapausing and directly developing generations. 4. 19. Feeding cassava foliage to sheep : nutrient properties and hydrogen cyanide toxicity

    Author : Khuc Thi Hue; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The potential of cassava foliage (Manihot esculenta Crantz) as a protein-rich feed in sheep production in Vietnam was examined by studying cassava foliage yield, hydrogen cyanide (HCN) content, toxicity and performance of lambs fed the foliage as a supplement. Cassava foliage fed ad libitum as a protein supplement to a basal diet of urea-treated rice straw gave similar lamb live weight gain (LWG) as diets supplemented with commercial concentrate or protein-rich foliage of stylosanthes (Stylosanthes guianensis) or jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus). 5. 20. Endemic ataxic polyneuropathy in Nigeria

    Author : Olusegun Steven Ayodele Oluwole; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Ataxia; Polyneuropathy; Nutrition; Cassava; Cyanogenic glycosides; Cyanide; Thiocyanate; Tropical;

    Abstract : Ataxic polyneuropathy is a neurological syndrome that was described from an endemic area in south-western Nigeria in the 1950s and 1960s. The major clinical features are sensory polyneuropathy, sensory gait ataxia, optic atrophy, and nerve deafness. READ MORE
