  1. 16. Functional studies in yeast of cyclin C and the RNA polymerase II Mediator complex

    Author : Darius Balciunas; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Cyclin C; RNA polymerase II; Mediator; glucose repression; RAS cAMP pathway; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Biochemistry; medicinsk biokemi;

    Abstract : Cyclin C belongs to a group of cyclins that are not cell cycle-regulated. It was first cloned from Drosophila and rat, but its role was not understood until the yeast cyclin C homologue Srb 11 was identified in several genetic screens for transcriptional repressors and subsequently was shown to be associated with the RNA polymerase II Mediator complex. 2. 17. Regulation of normal and cancer cells as a base for cell cycle-targeted therapy

    Author : Regina Miftakhova; Malmö Experimentell cancerforskning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell cycle regulation; cyclin A1; stem cells; stem cell niche; epigenetics; cancer;

    Abstract : The majority of current treatments used for treatment of prostate cancer (PCa) and leukemia are often limited to a narrow subsets of treated patients. As such, there still remains a significant scope for gaining deeper understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying cancer metastasis for improvement of targeted treatment. READ MORE

  3. 18. G1-phase cyclin expression in neoplastic B cells

    Author : Richard Scuderi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Cell cycle; G1 phase; cyclin D; cyclin E; EBV; Burkitt s; B-ALL; B-CLL; apoptosis;

    Abstract : By virtue of the role of G1-phase cyclin proteins as regulators of differentiation, proliferation, and apoptosis, their improper expression can lead to altered cellular homeostasis and tumor formation. Cyclins provide the regulatory partner for cyclin-cdk complexes whose enzymatic activity drives cell cycle progression. READ MORE

  4. 19. Prognostic factors in squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, with emphasis on 11q13 rearrangements and cyclin D1 overexpression

    Author : Jan Åkervall; Lund näs- och halssjukdomar Öron-; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; audiologi; Otorinolaryngologi; auditive system and speech; audiology; head and neck; squamous cell carcinoma; genetics; prognosis; CCND1; chromosomes; cyclin D1; chemotherapy; Otorhinolaryngology; gene expression; hörsel- och talorganen;

    Abstract : At present, clinical outcome or response to therapy can not be fully predicted in individual cases of squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN). The overall aim of the present studies was to investigate potential prognostic factors, more closely related to the malignant progression of a tumor than the established markers, such as the TNM-classification system. 5. 20. Prognostic and Treatment Predictive Markers Associated with Cyclin D1 Gene Amplification and Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition in Breast Cancer

    Author : Katja Lundgren; Malmö Patologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; beta-arrestin1; Chk1; Breast Cancer; Tamoxifen; prognostic marker; predictive marker; gene amplification; cyclin D1; EMT; Snail; hypoxia;

    Abstract : Endocrine resistant breast cancer is a major therapeutical challenge and accurate selection of patients susceptible to certain types of anti-hormonal treatment strategies is pivotal. Discovery of novel biomarkers potentially predicting treatment response as well as the clinical course of breast cancer is essential to effectively improve therapies and diagnosis. READ MORE
