  1. 1. Persistency, bioaccumulation and toxicity assessment of selected brominated flame retardants

    Author : Jenny Rattfelt Nyholm; Patrik L. Andersson; Peter Haglund; Mats Tysklind; Walter Vetter; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; persistence; bioaccumulation; toxicity; biodegradation; biotransformation; PBT; read across; soil; earthworm; zebrafish; copepod; BFRs; polybrominated diphenyl ethers; tetrabromobisphenol A; hexabromocyclododecane; hexabromobenzene; 2; 4; 6-tribromophenol; tetrabromobisphenol A; 2-hydroxyethyl ether; 1; 2-dibromo-4- 1; 2-dibromoethyl cyclohexane; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : Brominated flame retardants (BFRs) are chemicals used in e.g. electronic equipment, textiles and plastics for the prevention of fire. Over recent decades, concern has been raised regarding some heavily used BFRs, since the levels in the environment have been increasing. READ MORE

  2. 2. Coordination chemistry of late transition metals with PCP ligands. Synthesis, catalysis and mechanism

    Author : Daniel Olsson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organisk kemi; Organometallic chemistry; Metallorganisk kemi; Organic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi; Inorganic chemistry; Suzuki reaction; Stille reaction; catalysis; cyclometalation; C-H activation; PCP complex; POCOP ligand; PCP ligand; iridium; palladium; platinum;

    Abstract : Abstract The work presented in this thesis discusses synthesis of PCP-complexes and utilisations of such organometallic compounds in catalysis. The complexes, obtained by intramolecular Csp3-H activation, are based on the metals palladium, platinum and iridium. READ MORE

  3. 3. Paramagnetic relaxation reagents : nuclear magnetic resonance studies of preferential solvation

    Author : Hans Grahn; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The interactions between neutral paramagnetic relaxation reagents (PARR's) and certain aromatic compounds have been studied by 1H and 13 C spin-lattice relaxation time measurements. In media such as cyclohexane and carbon tetrachloride, Cr(acac)3 becomes preferentially solvated by aromatic solutes. READ MORE

  4. 4. Metallacyclic Phosphine Complexes and Intramolecular Csp3-H Bond Activation -Synthesis, Characterisation and Catalytic Application

    Author : Sven Sjövall; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; catalysis; Heck; diphosphite; diphosphine; phosphine; cyclometallation; C-C activation; C-O activation; C-H activation; palladium; rhodium; iridium; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis deals with metallacyclic late transition metal complexes, obtained by intramolecular Csp3-H activation, and the application of such compounds in catalysis. The new hemilabile P,O phosphines N-methyl-N-propionyl-2-(diphenylphosphino)benzylamine (DPPAM), o-(diphenylphosphino)benzoic acid ethyl ester (DPPES), o-(diphenylphosphino)benzoic acid methyl ether (DPPET) and ±-1-(2- diphenylphosphino)phenylethyl propionate (±-DPPMES) and the symmetrical diphosphorus donor ligands cis-1,3-bis[(diphenylphosphino)methyl]-cyclohexane (DPCY), cis-1,3-bis[(di-tertbutylphosphino)methyl]cyclohexane (DTBCY) and cis-1,3-bis[(di-isopropylphosphino)methyl]cyclohexane (DIPCY) have been synthesised, allowing the preparation of a range of new metallacyclic rhodium(III), iridium(III) and palladium(II) complexes. 5. 5. Particle Engineering by Spherical Crystallization:Mechanisms and Influence of Process Conditions

    Author : Jyothi Thati; Åke Rasmuson; Stephane Veesler; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Spherical agglomeration; Benzoic acid; Solubility; Phase diagram; Physico- mechanical properties size distribution; particle morphology and crushing strength; elastic recovery; compressibility ; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Spherical agglomerates of benzoic acid crystals have been successfully prepared by drowning-out crystallization in three solvent partial miscible mixtures. Benzoic acid is dissolved in ethanol, bridging liquid is added and this mixture is fed to the agitated crystallizer containing water as the anti-solvent. READ MORE
