21. Twist-Symmetric Periodic Structures : Properties and Applications
Abstract : In this thesis, periodic structures with higher symmetries symmetries are discussed. The main focus of the thesis is on twist symmetries. Importantly, the attractive properties of twist symmetries for the control of electromagnetic wave propagation are demonstrated. READ MORE

22. Electromagnetic Simulation, Analysis and Design with Application to Antennas and Radar Absorbers
Abstract : The present thesis considers two different subjects in the research area of electromagnetics. The first part is concerned with antenna design and the second with radar absorbers and rasorber. In the first part, a novel excitation technique for cylindrical dielectric resonator antennas is introduced to produce circular polarization. 23. Formation mechanism of anionic-surfactant-templated mesoporous silica (AMS)
Abstract : This dissertation is focused on synthesis, characterization and formation mechanism of anionic-surfactant-templated mesoporous silica (AMS). Structural control mechanisms of AMS are investigated. READ MORE

24. Glypican-1: Structural and functional analysis of the N-glycosylated human protein
Abstract : Glypicans are multifunctional cell surface heparan sulphate proteoglycans co-regulating numerous signalling pathways, and are thereby involved in the control of cellular division, differentiation, and morphogenesis. The heparan sulphate (HS) chains are responsible for many of those biological functions; nevertheless recent studies suggest functional roles for the glypican core proteins in mediating the signalling of various growth factors. 25. Equilibrium and Kinetic Studies of the Binding of DNA to Cationic Liposomes
Abstract : The objective of this work was to study the formation of DNA-cationic vesicle complexes (lipoplexes). These complexes are interesting not only from a fundamental point of view but also as promising candidates for gene therapy. The approach taken was to study first the cationic vesicles by themselves.
