  1. 1. Genes for cytochrome c and cytochrome c oxidase synthesis in Bacillus subtilis

    University dissertation from Department of Microbiology, Lund University

    Author : Jenny Bengtsson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2001]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microbiology; cytochrome; cytochrome c oxidase; Bacillus subtilis; cytochrome c synthesis; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Abstract : Cytochromes are heme-containing proteins that function in electron transfer reactions, e.g. respiration and photosynthesis. There are several different types of cytochromes. READ MORE

  2. 2. Bacterial Terminal Oxidases. Studies in Bacillus subtilis

    University dissertation from Lena Winstedt, Department of cell and organism biology, Sölvegatan 12, S-223 62 Lund, Sweden

    Author : Lena Winstedt; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2002]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mycology; virology; mykologi; bakteriologi; Mikrobiologi; bacteriology; Microbiology; di-copper center; cytochrome oxidase; Enterococcus faecalis; cytochrome bd; Bacillus subtilis; terminal oxidase; virologi;

    Abstract : The final step in aerobic respiratory pathways is catalyzed by terminal oxidases. Bacteria generally have two or more terminal oxidases. Aerobically grown Bacillus subtilis synthesize three terminal oxidases: one cytochrome c oxidase, cytochrome caa3 and two quinol oxidases, cytochrome aa3 and cytochrome bd. READ MORE

  3. 3. Synthesis of hemes found in heme-copper oxidases of Bacillus subtilis

    University dissertation from Lena Winstedt, Department of cell and organism biology, Sölvegatan 12, S-223 62 Lund, Sweden

    Author : Mimmi Throne-Holst; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2001]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microbiology; Biologi; Biology; heme biosynthesis; respiratory oxidase; cytochrome; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Abstract : The last step of aerobic respiration, the reduction of dioxygen to water, is catalysed by terminal oxidases. These oxidases can be divided into two unrelated families, the heme-copper oxidases and the cytochrome bd-type oxidases. These enzymes contain two or more heme molecules as prosthetic groups. 4. 4. Structure and Biogenesis of Membrane Proteins

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Stockholm University

    Author : Mama Ndi; Stockholms universitet.; [2019]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cbp3; cytochrome b; respiratory complex III; alternative translation initiation and sodium proton exchange; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : Membrane proteins make up about one-third of the cellular proteome. The diverse roles that membrane proteins have in cells include major life-sustaining processes, making them major drug targets. READ MORE
